The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory of Stamford, CT, has seen many changes since May 15, 1953, when Nicholas F. Cognetta, Sr. and Naida E. Cognetta opened their doors for the first time.

I want to thank you for the professionalism and caring nature towards my family. You handled my sister's cremation and service in May of 2022. This was a very trying time for my family as we decided to have her service on Mother's Day weekend last year with only a 3 day notice....you handled everything expeditiously and with class. I relocated out of the tri state area but if I know anyone who needs your services that reside in CT I will be sure to send them your way. Thank you.
Absolutely the best funeral experience I've ever had. The staff is gracious, warm and thoughtful. The Cognetta family created a beautiful living room across from where we met our guests at the wake --- complete with a loving DVD slide show of my dad's life set to music over the mantle. On our way out the door we were greeted with a homemade pound cake to have in the morning with coffee before their limousines came to take us to the church for the funeral. They are gentle, true professionals and displayed perfection in every detail.
Where do I begin… Cognetta funeral home has always been a special place for my family. My mother was very dear friends with Nick the founder .... I lost my mother when I was eight years old and I remember with them treating my family so wonderfully. They even took great care of my father 31 years ago! This past week I had to arrange another funeral for my mother in law. Lee could not have been more amazing! he made us feel like we were family and took all the worry away from this awful time in our lives.... truly something special about cognetta funeral home and would never go to anyone else!
I contacted this place based on the reviews, but unfortunately my experience was not the same. From the initial call the lady who answered was too rude and since I took a while to speak she hung up on me. I wanted to give it a try and called again. Her demeanor was grossly rude and insensitive, especially for the kind of service this place provides. The only thing she focused on was telling me the value of cremation and telling me that they would charge me extra for the body being too far away. No sympathy, no condolences, no personality, just a sales person wanting a commission nothing wrong with that but this is a Funeral home so a little compassion would be greatly appreciated. The worst experience especially for someone who has just lost a loved one. I found another place that offers the same services and they were much more attentive in this difficult time. I don't think it's fair to pay a lot of money to be treated so badly at a time where you are extremely vulnerable.
I am so thankful for the amazing crew at Cognetta for all of their assistance with the funeral for my grandmother, Lily. Anthony coordinated everything absolutely perfectly and went above & beyond my expectations. He was so helpful, genuine & informative that he made the what would be terrible process, not so terrible. I highly recommend this team.
Compassionate & caring from first phone call. It was pleasure dealing with Lee and Jackie. Flexible, understanding & patient. We were treated with dignity and respect and they were always available to answer any questions. Thank you again.
