Nick's is a New Haven-style pizzeria in Boca Raton, Florida, that features coal-fired ovens. We were looking for a new culinary experience and were happy to find this place. The dining area is large and comfortable, with booths and a view of the kitchen and ovens. We also enjoyed the bar that opens up to the outdoors. We ordered two pizzas: roasted chicken, pesto, and cherry tomatoes, and tomato, basil, mozzarella, and hot cherry peppers. Both pizzas were delicious! The crust had a distinct char and a crunchy bottom, with a somewhat chewy texture. It was thicker than a New York-style thin crust, but similar in consistency. The sauce was minimal, allowing the crust and toppings to shine. The cheeses, vegetables, and spices added a variety of flavors, including a good amount of heat from the peppers. We both thought it was a great new experience and would highly recommend Nick's. If you're in South Florida and looking for something new, this is a place worth considering. We'll definitely be stopping back there the next time we're in town.
The staff is extremely friendly and the Happy Hour Specials were fantastic. I’ve never had Nick’s New Haven before and the food did not disappoint. The crust is perfectly chard and the cheese/sauce ratio is spot on. I will definitely be going back. I think I found my new favorite pizza spot!
Yes please. The pizza is old school good. Fresh from the oven, high quality ingredients, fresh mushrooms not canned, caramelized onions or raw- your choice. Every detail matters when having the perfect slice…or two. I split the Caesar with the homemade dressing on the side I like to create my own ratios and a caramelized onion and mushroom pizza with a lifelong friend. The bar area opens up to a small sidewalk high top area. Has a nice neighborhood feel to eat. I e eaten there many times with friends and family. It’s the real deal. Come hungry, leave happy. Parking: Located in a shopping center. Easy parking very close to entrance. Kid-friendliness: Lots of booths and space to spread around. Great for kids!
AVOID AVOID AVOID. The service is almost non existent. It used to be wonderful as well as the food. Placed an order 65 minutes ago, still no food. No manager on duty and I feel for the Staff that are trying their best. Just don’t bother turning up here. What’s a real shame is the food is actually nice. Service has gone to nothing. Just don’t waste your time
This place is great! The music they play is a nice throwback that is upbeat and very family friendly! Crystal loooves the escargo and beans, we get it every time we go by. The wrap and sandwich weren't the best, but we have tried other items that we definitely have loved. Their pizza is amazing, you've got to try it! We were also lucky enough to be there while they were cleaning the oven and changing the coals. Good to see the place being kept up well!
New Haven native here. When a pizza place lays claim to "New Haven style", I'll evaluate based on two pies: Italian sausage and white clam -- and Nick's comes very close. Where it lost points: 1 While the crusts had the requisite texture, they weren't baked long enough to confer the the coal oven's unique char and full flavor. 2 The sausage, while very good, didn't measure up to genuine New Haven's robustnes. 3 Clams were excellently flavored, but not as fresh-from-the-ocean as you get up north. Overall, these are minor faults -- and Nick's offers up a fine approximation of the real deal from a thousand miles south. Atmosphere downgrade because of a couple of guys engaged in full throttle shouting at the bar, audible around the restaurant.
Pizza tasted like it had been left out for a few days. The veggies on the pizza seemed like they were molded on the pizza. As for the crust, it was just too floppy. Would love to support the local joints but this became uneatable. Eating in was more enjoyable awhile back but ordering the pizza to go was not only a poor service experience but a disappointing quality.
BEST PIZZA IN SOUTH FLORIDA - I wanted to write this review. Nick's New Haven Pizza is phenomenal, and this word does not capture the pizza fully. The ingredients are fresh; the dough is freshly made; the pizza is cooked New Haven-style charred crust; everything is perfect. This pizza is best eaten at the restaurant hot out of the oven. I also had the cannoli - homemade and amazing!! The service was top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
Another favorite of mine in Boca Raton. Being originally from the Midwest people always rave of how Florida’s pizza doesn’t stand up to New York, New Haven or Chicago etc. Nicks has unlocked the code with their New Haven Brick oven pizza that’s out of this world. The crust is equally as amazing as the ingredients and they’re abundant. Their entrees and appetizers are a must have. My favorite appetizers are the risotto balls and the Parmesan crusted chicken wings. As far as entrees go, they’re a full plate so expect to eat a lot or take some home. I always order the chicken francese and add capers. Their chicken Parmesan could happily feed a family. They have a bar that’s open to the outdoors which I always love to find in Florida. Enjoy their ceiling plastered with retro ads from the last century.
Always have great meals here. Drinks Are super strong. All the salads are great, but they definitely have the best Caeser salad! Fried mozz is delish. Their pastas are also excellent. The 4 cheese capellini with meatballs is my go to. The service is excellent! Consistently good.
