Great for pic up. Small location so only 2 tables. But let me tell you this... their shrimp fried rice- spicy is DELISH! The small is a great small and they are not shy with the shrimp. My favorite place for fried rice. I should have mixed my rice around to show you how much shrimp there is in here but I'm in my car and don't want it all over. Oh almost forgot, shrimp egg roll is FIRE!!
So I visited Nicky's Chinese food today and had a great experience. I ordered the Chicken Almond Ding and a Tomato and Beef Thick Soup - both of which were delicious! The service was polite and the staff was very helpful in making a good recommendation. The only downside was that it took a while for the food to come out, so I'd recommend being patient. The food was definitely worth the wait, but it was a bit pricey. All in all, I had a great experience and I would recommend Nicky's to anyone looking for a good Chinese meal.
I ordered, Small Ham Fried Rice. They charged me $2 for one egg on top. RICE WAS VERY GREASY. I mean GREASY. HUBBY ORDERED, Chicken and Broccoli. They charged $4 to changed from Shrimp to Chicken. HUBBY had a thick sauce, 10 minutes later, sauce turned into liquid, like water. I called, and asked, don't you think that's a bit much, $4 for chicken? The lady said, " THAT'S HOW MUCH WE CHARGE". NEVER, WILL I GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN! HONESTLY, ALL OF THESE NEIGHBORHOOD CHINESE RESTAURANTS ARE THE SAME.
So I ordered the lunch special sweet and sour chicken. despite been up charge 4.00 to add ham on my rice .. now when I order for any Chinese place they put the sweet and sour on the side because let be honest who want some saggy food when I ask if I can get my sauce on the side they told there no way we can put it on the side ... also you see where the chicken is at the rest is just sauce pineapple ,pepper and tomatoes not a lot of chicken and I paid over 15.00 for this meal I will not be order from here again .. don't waste ur money they to expenses and cheap on they product ...
This is the worst Chinese food in all of Hyde Park. We got the Cantonese style noodles, which were just tasteless vegetables in a mushy sauce and tasteless tiny dry noodles on the side, the Orange Chicken, again tasteless and dripping with mystery sauce, and Beef with Garlic and Green Onions which was the only vaguely tasty thing but had much too much salt. Seriously, whoever wrote the sign on the side that said best Chinese food should be sued for false advertising. This place is disgusting and we are never ordering from here again.
I’ve been ordering from this restaurant for years. I work for the hospital and I order Nikkis for lunch or dinner all the time. My small shrimp fried rice tasted like dirty water just horrible and the chicken wings were half done and cold. I reported the displeased order to the manager. The manager promised me a credit. I go to use my credit, you can’t use the credit without ordering anything else. Why would I order something else my original order was horrible. What should have happen: let me use the credit and redeem yourself. It’s been a great ride. I will never order from them again they don’t appreciate longtime customers, there’s so many other places to order from around the hospital, but we chose you, never again. I hate bad service specially, when I’ve been a consumer of your business for years. The delivery driver is great very nice and courteous. However the service of the business receives a zero for me. Horrible customer service.
Nicky's use to be among the best Chinese food experience in all of Chicago. However lately the service has declined tremendously. I ordered chicken egg foo young and they gave me shrimp egg foo young. I don't eat shrimp. I had no idea until I got all the way home. I asked to be refunded and was given the run around. They told me I would have to bring the food back in which I informed them that I was on the other side of town and to Uber to them would cost more than the food was actually worth. When I told them I used my card and that I can't eat shrimp and to just reimburse my card they hung up one Highly unprofessional, poor customer service, very unsatisfied, waste of money and time. I wouldn't recommend Nicky's anymore to anyone. We have to stop letting these restaurants mistreat us and start to show them the important of providing quality service. I work too hard to pay for something I can't enjoy.
ZERO STARS FOR BUGS INSIDE OF FOOD. I’ve patronized this business for over 10years and i’ve honesty never had a pest concern with my food or their establishment. However today that has changed. On 10/12/22 i received my order and once i plated and began to eat my egg foo young i notice an entire roach fried into the bottom of it. After immediately throwing up i took photos and contacted the restaurant. I was very polite when i stated to the clerk that there was a roach found in my food. He placed me on hold and a cook returned to the phone and stated that he wasn’t sure how that got there but if im saying it’s there then it must be there. I have the conversation recorded as well as photos of the food. I was offered store credit or $10 for the egg foo young. I am very disgusted and disappointed.
We called to actually check the price for their sesame chicken and fried rice because the menu was a bit confusing to figure out. The lady answers and I simply asked “if I were to order the sesame chicken - does it include rice because I was unsure on your website.” She said “no.” I said so I have to purchase it separately? The sesame chicken was 9.95 and the shrimp fried rice was 8.95 for a small and 10.95 for a large. That makes no sense. She said “yeah.” So I hung up. The service just from the phone call was terrible. I can already imagine how the food would be. I wouldn’t recommend simply based off the service.
I put five stars so my review gets seen… Was walking past this location one day and the door on the side that’s let’s you see the inside of their kitchen was open, I witnessed a worker handling what appeared to be some form of meat out of a bucket on the floor.
