The coolest shoe store in the Twin Cities!
In the cold winter of 1922, our founder journeyed across the Atlantic from Sweden to America. Without a winter coat, he had little or no money and a one way train ticket to Minneapolis. Following generations of family history, he found employment making and repairing shoes. Soon after, he met and wed his wife, and in 1931 they founded Nokomis Shoe Shop.
He ran the store until he passed away in 1980. His daughter and her husband then purchased the store. In 1983, the original location at 5017 34th Avenue South became too small to continue to support the thriving business. The current location (across the street from the original) was chosen so the store would continue in the Nokomis Village area.
Though the store no longer does shoe repair, it continues to carry a wide selection of brand name work and outdoor footwear, clothing and unique gift items. The family continues to be involved helping to maintain the unique image, personal service and quality merchandise that has developed since the early 1930's.
