West North Avenue is a confusing, exciting mix of cultures and flavors. Within a two-block radius of one another you can come across a McDonald's, 2 Korean eateries, Baltimore City Public Schools headquarters, the Fred Lazarus Center, part of the Maryland Institute College of Art or MICA for short, one of the nation's Premier Institutes in graphic arts and design, and last but certainly not least, the Station North entertainment and Arts District-- the closest thing you will find to Bohemian San Francisco on the East Coast. If you want to be dropped right smack-dab in the middle of Maryland's cultural, artistic and / or nightlife, the best way to do so is to jump off the train at Pennsylvania station, only a few blocks from the action. From there you have your choice of enjoying fine cuisine at the Chesapeake restaurant, music from the ironically named Metro Gallery, the latest Arts films at the Charles theater
