Absolutely horrible experience. Not feeling well myself also needed a wheelchair but able to walk slowly. I approached the information desk with a kind smile Maddie and very helpful. She ask me to sit on a bench across from admitting to wait for my husband that had been hospitalized for the last 5 days. There absolutely no one around me and minding my own personally space with the curiosity wearing a mask. A volunteer, an old lady, Audrey has ask me to move 3 times now. I even said if you want me to move get me a wheelchair. I have never seen anyone so rude that actually telling others she’s refusing to move. I don’t understand there was not a single person around me, in front of me, beside me but she insisted for me to me. Why?? A power trip!! Maybe have someone that cares about people volunteering instead of bossing them around.
I went to NCH Collier for a broken foot. Glued my toe which would not stop bleeding and put on a splint-4 hours. Next day started bleeding. Went to NCH North in case I had to be admitted. 2 stitches to replace the glue and replaced splint-5 hours. This is healthcare in America? Fortunately got an appointment with my Podiatrist for today. Very sad and shocking hospital system.
My wife was here for surgery and the nurses and other staff deserves 5 stars. The reasons for the 3 stars are it was a good half hour at least for her to be transferred to her room after surgery after being told it would be No more than 10 minutes. The same when she was discharged a 5 minute wait was at least a half hour. The no sugar in drinks at the cafeteria is ridiculous plus the food prices for what you get are crazy. I could get the same breakfast at wawa for less money plus it's hot and what I want to drink. It's not right to enforce a sugar ban . They let me stay over night with her and the chair that lays flat was the most uncomfortable thing barley got any sleep
I had surgery on an out patient basis last Monday. My doctor, the pre op nurses and operating room staff were wonderful. The wonderful ends there. I had general anesthesia. When I woke up in post op they couldn’t get me out fast enough. No offer of juice or water, nothing. The nurse got my clothes on me immediately and I was out the door, 30 minutes after waking up from a big surgery. I could bare talk or move. I will never go to an NCH hospital again. No wonder their rating is so low. I was not treated with any respect or caring.
Went to the E.R. on February 25th. I had a hard time breathing. Check in went well I was treated well. Once I was in a room nurse Stephanie came in and was not nice at all. showed no empathy at all as she continued to twist and turn the needle in my arm when I clearly told her I was in pain as she was doing it. Then blood shot out and went all down my arm everywhere. When doctor came in I told him not to send her back in here that I needed another nurse. When the doctor left and talked to her, I heard her yell that I have a nasty attitude, I suppose she did not realize that she was talking about herself because I talked to her in a respectful manner. She clearly does not care about how she treats patients and is in the wrong job field. Furthermore, I did ask to speak to the management in charge no one came. Also, I was cold, she did not offer a blanket and left the room with light on door open and curtain pulled back which I feel was purposely done. When Amanda came in as my new Nurse, I was impressed she is amazing. At least I know there are a few good nurses left in this terrible world of bad nurses. Everything went smooth after that Amanda was very helpful and understanding and so was the very nice lady that did my scan. I will not return here if I become sick again, I will be going somewhere else from now on. Because this is not the first time, I have had issues with this hospital. I feel like some nurses do care but the majority are just there for the paycheck and that is so sad. I don’t expect special treatment but only ask to be treated with respect as a human like everyone else. One star is what I am giving this hospital I am still so bothered and disappointed by my experience with her. It's people like her that give places a bad name. This hospital needs to be shut down. A hospital needs compassionate and caring people working in it. And you cannot find that at NCH.
Service was slow. My kid needed stitches. Waited like four hours for a ten minute job. Since no insurance, we got the bill, which was expected. What nobody told us was that the hospital bill you get isn't for the medical services. Cost me $860 just to sit in their room for four hours. Today I got the bill for the medical services. Another $2000 to see the 'doctor'. Lol. Doctor never set foot in the room, never so much as looked through the window. Physician's assistant did the whole thing, which is not really a problem, except the cost. Not sure why a PA costs so much, thought they were supposed to be cheaper than docs. I'm an MD in Toronto Canada. ER doctor here would have done the whole thing for about $200 which is about what this job is worth, and I wouldn't have even paid probably would have waited a long time, but still. NCH I'm thoroughly unimpressed. Your service wasn't nearly worth the money, not even close. Customer service was lame. If you are going to hose people this badly at least do it with a smile. Communication from billing department was nonexistent. I love the USA, but there's something wrong with your medical system.
I was sent to the ER by my primary physician to have a CT Scan preformed due to a fall when I fainted broke my nose, had a nasty gash above my eye, possibly needing stitches to be certain that I didn't suffer a brain bleed due to my fall. Initially, things went quickly and smoothly once I was triaged. However, everything changed once I was in an actual exam room. My nurse was at lunch, so a different nurse got me hooked up to everything and left. When my actual nurse arrived much later, she attached an IV fluid bag and left...for over an hour! I needed to use the restroom and received ZERO help from anyone even though I was told I was a fall risk. My husband had to escort me. Once back in the room, no one came to reattach anything that was monitoring my vital signs. Even though the machine was constantly sending loud beeping noises to alert staff! After waiting for almost three hours, Dr. Lehr finally comes to see me. He doesn't go over test results with me and wants to admit me for "further observation". Dr. Lehr needs to realize that in order to observed he MUST ACTUALLY SEE THE PATIENT! By this point, I had lost all faith in the quality of medical attention I was receiving. I felt I had no other choice than to leave as it was apparent that Dr.Lehr and ER staff does as little as possible and will gaslight you if you dare ask a question they don't want to answer. Then you are considered hostile. I was not allowed to use a wheelchair in order to leave the ER even after unexplained fainting. There is no caring or compassion at this ER! I honestly should have heeded the advice I had received about NCH being an awful hospital and that NCH stands for "Never Come Here." But to me, NCH should stand for NOBODY CARES HERE!
Hi. I’ve been having health problems for the past two years. I have gastric intestinal metaplasia, svt loop record implanted in my chest vertigo and recently my gallbladder had to be removed 3 weeks ago. I’m gonna try to make this comment short and about my last visit only. I haven’t been able to keep food down, have diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea and chills; went to the ER and I was in a bed for four hours and the doctor told me she wouldn’t want to perform any test because I’ve had a few ct scans in the past. She didn’t even give me fluids or nausea med and discharged me without a care. Even one of the nurses couldn’t believe it. I’m sure my insurance will get a hefty bill for the four hours I was lying there and the 5 minutes the doctor came in. STAY AWAY FROM THAT LOCATION OF NCH!
We had both out first and now second child here. Absolutely amazing staff. They are very personable and made sure my wife's ever need was met from check in to check out and even following up while at home. I can't put into words how greatfull I am to the nurses and techs here. Thatnk you guys so much.
I had my baby May 10th at The BirthPlace. I was actually preferring to do a home birth because I was scared of being in a hospital but the staff there was so awesome. Dr Heitman, nurse Courtney, Alinaanesthesiologist- not sure how to spell her name all went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and so did all of the nurses and techs that were there helping for the 2 days I recovered from a c section. I highly recommend The BirthPlace especially to anyone who might be scared of giving birth especially in a hospital setting. A home birth wouldn't have worked out for me in the end and I'm so glad there was a place filled with such kind people
