Preschool/Daycare serving primarily developmentally delayed/disabled children. Adult Development/Work Activity Center for developmentally disabled adults.
In our Children's Development Center, children are taught the skills necessary for daily life at home and in the community, as well as preparation for kindergarten. Our curriculum provides for development in all domains of learning. If determined by a multi-disciplinary team, a child may receive specialized therapy in Occupational Therapy addressing the child’s fine motor and sensory development. The child may also qualify for Physical Therapy addressing gross motor development and Speech Therapy addressing communication and oral motor concerns. Day Habilitation (another form of treatment offered) takes place in our classrooms and addresses all areas of development including gross motor, fine motor, communication and socialization, cognition, and self-help skills. Our children range in developmental disabilities such as Autism, Down’s syndrome, Prader-Willi, and Global Developmental Delays.
The goal of North Hills Adult Services is to provide the developmentally disabled adult with the skills, training, and opportunity to become as independent and self-sufficient as possible. Each person's uniqueness prevails in the Adult Services program by recognition of his/her strengths, weaknesses, and individual personality traits
North Hills Services, Inc., is governed by a Board of Directors chosen for their interest in developmentally disabled children and adults and their families, and for their commitment to community service. The Executive Director, Dr. Brian F. Poole, assisted by Lois Carroll, Children’s Services Program Director and Dean Faitz, Adult Services Program Director, supervises a staff of 35. Services, including transportation, are provided in the North Pulaski county area.
