This place helped my mom more than the other places she went. The physical therapists know what they're doing. They taught her how to use a transfer board to get from her wheelchair to the bed, car, shower, and toilet on her own. The other place was good, but wasn't teaching her how to live independently. So grateful for all they did. Then when she left, they all lined up and rang a bell for graduation. So sweet. The staff and nurses were also amazing and took care of her and were so sweet. Thank you.
Its a great facility with a warm, caring staff with the patience of a saint. My elderly father was there twice over the past few months, receiving appropriate wound care and therapy. His condition noticeably improved each time he was there and I'm confident in saying that they, along with help from other medical professionals, extended his life expectancy by an incalculable amount. I would gladly recommend them to anyone just off that alone, but they went above and beyond just rehabbing; Brett, one of the case managers there, has been our strongest advocate in getting help with things like possible grants for stuff like a wheelchair ramp for our home and arranged, through insurance, for a wheelchair. This is stuff I would barely know how to search for online, but he stepped up and provided the brightest shining light at the end of a long, dark tunnel, something that obviously helps my father but also helped me in not being so alone and overwhelmed by all the insurance red tape and the unknown territory, to me and my father, of dealing with aging parents. So, could you find better? Maybe, if you got a fatter wallet than me, but even then I'm not so sure. The only possible negative is that I want to find an appropriate way to express my gratitude to them for all they have done for me and my family... But that's a problem that I'm ok with having.
My elderly mother was recently in this facility for around two weeks after she fell and broke her shoulder. I highly recommend Northern Utah Rehab from the case manager to the nurses and CNA's and the PT, OT and Speech Therapists. She actually enjoyed her stay there and the employees that she associated with. She was sad today when she transitioned from there to an assisted living facility. The employees lined up near the front door as she was leaving and cheered her on which brought tears to her eyes and mine. Thanks everyone for taking such great care of my mom.
My overall experience was very good. The PT and OT staff was excellent.. The PCTs were also very good. Just between me and whoever reads this I will recognize two, Colleen and Elsa. Ler me just say, all the staff waa great. Yes, the food waa also very good.
This place deserves negative stars because of their horrible scamming of patients and their families. I had to give it 1 star, or it wouldn't let me post--and I want EVERYONE that is looking at this place to know what happened to us. We were told that they were billing through Medicare and the VA my dad is a veteran, and instead--they never billed. They never even copied his VA card or made a call. We went to meet with the lady from insurance 8 months after his stay when we first became aware it hadn't been billed correctly--as he was being billed the entire amount. We had called and made an appointment, and when we arrived, she said we could just talk in the foyer on a bench. When we asked to meet in the office, she seemed surprised--that she needed to do her job. I was the one that realized they had never even taken the time to bill insurance. during that meeting. This lady then promised that she would re-bill it, and place a hold on that account. Instead, within that week, she sent that bill to collections. 6 months later, and I'm the one who is working part-time to resolve these bills for my dad because the employee of Northern Utah Rehab couldn't do her job. While the physical therapists at this place are good, their billing is one of the worst. Unless you are okay paying for everything out of pocket, stay away from this place. And yes, I'll leave this post up until someone at Northern Utah Rehab actually helps me get the itemized list, and the paperwork, for the retro-authorization, and other things needed for the Appeal Process--so that we can get these bills taken care of.
Everyone at the hospital was excellent. The OT team taught me how to be self sufficient and confident in carrying for myself. They really have an amazing team. The PT team were very good at getting me moving and able to walk again. I would really like to thank JoAnn from the PT team she helped me so much. The nursing staff took excellent care of me. They have some of the best nurses I have ever met. Dr Fines was caring and made sure to come see me every day. The only negative was the food at times was not the best. Some days it was very good and other it was not. I rated the facility 4 stars for that reason. I thank everyone there who cared for me.
It is extremely clean, the food is pretty good, all of the staff in the therapy departments are excellent. Lori the speech therapist took her time to be with him everyday and helped him so much with eating and talking. Trina was the nurse that took him in and she was so caring and thoughtful and I couldn't have asked for more . The CNA staff is run ragged from one room to the next . One aide is assigned but you are placed on the commode by one person and another person comes to take you off . They are very good about coming when they are called . There is a huge problem with communication between the nursing staff and the patient and family. Medications were improperly given and some, but not all, acted as if it was not any of your business what they were administering.
I can't tell you what their inpatient care is like. But I passed by, across the crosswalk by the Thai restaurant and one of the staff almost hit me. I told one of the arriving staff, asked to speak to someone and asked where to wait. I was told to wait by a particular door the southern one, in the ambulance oval. No one arrived. I spoke to one other departing staff member and one other who was arriving. I called the phone number and was told no supervisor was available. I was left waiting outside at 0500. This is my experience with the people who work here. I wouldn't trust them to help me if I had been injured.
Northern Utah Rehabilitation Hospital is amazing. I would give it a10 out of 10, but honestly the food is awful, so I rate them at 9.8. The nursing staff is both ultimately professional and truly compassionate!!! The physical therapy staff are exceeding good at their chosen profession. If you CAN reach your goals and you have the will, they'll get you there!!! In conclusion this is the best facility I can imagine for what they do!!!
I have used Northern Utah Rehab Hospital 3 times. The fist time was soon after they opened. I broke my leg, and was admitted for 5 weeks of intense recovery and training. Their standards were high and I appreciated their care and going the extra mile time and again. After leaving there, they provided therapy sessions at home which was highly effective. The second time I used them was when I enrolled in outpatient therapy for my leg. As expected, their services exceeded my expectations. Now 5 years later, I selected them for my recovery after diversticktitus. I'm saddened that they have fallen below their own standards. The doctors and nurses were professional but a few of the nurses have chosen to be less attentive. I was there foe 10 days and in that time they lost my shoes and some clothing. No attempt was made to recover them although I knew who did it. 3 times the forgot my meals. Usually I was brought food I didnt order. They blamed that on me. Occasionally they forgot my request for pain meds. They didn't pay attention to details and genuine care. The aids who usually answer calls often ignored requests, resented giving time, and lied about whose fault this was. At one point Several came together in my room for a confrontation whining about how the problems were my fault and that I was selfish to want help when there were so many people worse off than me. I threatened them for partying in the room at the ice station and for running and yelling in the hall. After that, things were a little better but not much. I told the CEO anout these things as he chuckled. The patient advocate took these things seriously and bought me shoes to wear home. I will not return there. Neither do I recommend it to anyone. However, I highly recommend their outpatient therapy. They are marvelous.
