Certainly, this was the smallest airport i’ve been in my life. But, do I think it was bad? Not at all. You can’t be lost in this airport or lose your flight because you can’t find your gate. For sure, you need to get there in your flight time and all will be good. Such a nice people working there. I had a great experience. Also, it was very clean and I have nothing to complain.
We had an amazing week at the Hilton Garden Inn Ft Walton Beach. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Spent some time at the pool which had a lazy river and music playing all day and the rest of the time we layed at the beautiful beach and enjoyed the 80 degree water and upper 80 degree weather. We can't wait to come back next year.
Flight last Thursday from VPS Airport on Allegiant from new Concourse C. First I had to go to Main Building to Allegiant to drop off checked bag. Then walk about one block outside pass Cell phone lot to me Concourse C a separate building exposed to the environmental elements. This new 14 million dollar building isn't up to modern standards. TSA was good and quick. The 5 Allegiant gates had no WiFi, no TV'S and no USB outlets very few regular electrical outlets. Food options were Duncan Doughnuts and 2 Convenience stores which sold water, soft drinks, juice, cold sandwiches and neck pillows. I was very disappointed. To board your aircraft we had to use metal stairs and ramps again exposed to environmental elements as everything no type of covering for protection.
Cool little airport with everything you need and nothing you don't need. Security is fast, the food is good. You also get the constant roar of F35 fighter jets and all kinds of military aircraft taking off. It's amazing.
As others have said, it’s as small airport, but that’s not a bad thing at all, especially when TSA was quick. Airport was also very clean, and the one restaurant we went to was very good. It’s a bit of a walk to pick up your rental, but the weather was nice so I won’t complain much.
While there aren’t as many non-stop destinations as people including myself would like, it is easy to get a connecting flight. This airport is a breeze to fly in and out of, the security lines are extremely short and the terminal is small so so not have to walk far to gate. Only downside is the airport is a bit of a drive from the beach area.
Very small airport, the staff is very helpful in crowd control. Just wish there was more food places
Usually I adore little airports, but this one was an exception - however it might be temporary issues? Top line comments: 1. Lots of confusion about Terminal C. Witnessed multiple families realize they were in the wrong terminal, listened to stories about groups going through TSA at Terminal A first. Those mistakes meant exiting buildings, walking outside, and going through TSA again. Worth a conversation at the ticket counter, it was more clear for passengers who checked bags because agents gave instructions. 2. It’s an active construction area. Like bare Sheetrock in the bathroom and no mirrors active. Also, Gate C3 is beyond the construction zone, but no signage instructing ‘queue at C2 and walk outside between traffic cones. 3. One food shop option in Term C, a pre-packaged croissant sandwich is $15+. 4. Bugs. Lots. Of. Bugs. So, check with the ticket counter first, don’t expect a mirror, eat before you go, and maybe don’t put your bag on the floor.
Easy to pickup and dropoff rental cars. Pleasant staff. Short TSA security lines.
Nice small airport. Easy to get around. Car rental needs some work. We spent almost as much time waiting in line to pick up our rental car as the flight to Destin took. If another plane had come in, they would have waited forever to get out of the airport. Once we got out of the rental desk, it was easy to find our rental and get out of the airport.
