Northwest Park,a 473-acre park operated by the Town of Windsor, Connecticut, offering an interpretive nature center, 12 miles of trails, and much more.
The mission of Northwest Park is to maintain, enhance and protect habitat for native species, while providing educational and passive recreational opportunities for the public through a municipal park. Northwest Park will:
• Provide environmental education through its formal school programs and public classes, workshops, special events, camps and exhibits.
• Designate and manage habitat areas for biological diversity and for specific native species that are considered endangered, threatened or species of special concern.
• Provide agricultural educational through its Heritage Breed Program and “living farm” programs and exhibits.
• Provide accessibility into its facilities and nature trails for persons with special needs.
• Provide cultural activities through its concerts, tobacco museum and special events.
• Strive to provide an attractive and safe environment for the public.
• Recognize that the human civilization is an integral part of the natural world and nature itself must be preserved and perpetuated for the human community to remain healthy.
