The Northwest Recreation league is a 501 c(3) non-profit offering baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, football & cheer in house and thru partnerships
A group of dedicated volunteers, local high school coaches, and professional instructors have worked to bring NW Rec to fruition. They have a desire to bring opportunities for our youth to develop necessary fundamental skills to compete in games in the NW Cabarrus area. Home games will be at Winecoff Elementary School.
Baseball
Spring 2014 Baseball home games will be played at Winecoff Elementary School.
Age Groups:
4-6 yrs - co-ed - will focus on foundational fundamentals of throwing, hitting, catching, and running. Teams will be limited to 7 players to maximize the playing time and eliminate the outfielder!
7-8 yrs - co-ed - will be machine pitch and participate within county schedule.
9-10 yrs - Kid pitch will be important time to transition from proper throwing mechanics learned in previous years to throwing strikes and competing against the hitter. Hitter will learn to make adjustments to be aggressive with their swings. Teams will compete in the county schedule and end of season all-star tournaments.
11-12 yrs - Players will start to polish their skills to compete in the games and develop a better understanding of game situations. Teams will compete in the county schedule and will develop challenge teams to play extended tournaments.
13-15 yrs - Players will move to the larger field to work to develop their strength so that they can compete on the middle school teams. Teams will play other teams in the larger Cabarrus County and Mecklenburg County areas.
Softball
Softball home games will be held at Winecoff Elementary School

*Ages 4-6 and 7-8 will play co-ed to develop the girls' throwing and hitting mechanics. Proper throwing mechanics especially are hindered by the larger softball in releation to the small hands of young girls. We want to promote correct mechanics and therefore best set up our children for success into the future.
Soccer
Soccer NW Rec will be offering 2 levels of youth soccer at each age group.
Recreational - $85 - 1 practice per week, 1 game per week
Challenge Soccer - $120 - 2 practices, 1 game per week + optional skill session from a professional coach
Challenge soccer was established to offer a low cost introduction to competitive soccer. At this point we do not require trying out. This level allows the parents/players to select their coach if desired. If your player has a passion for the sport and above average skill, then this is the level for him/her.
Ages Groups: 4-6 yrs, 7-8 yrs, 9-10yrs, 11-12yrs, 13-15yrs
Assessment will be March 1st.
Practices will begin for challenge immediately.
Practices for rec will begin March 15th.
