The Library also incorporates a number of special collections for exhibition catalogues, artists’ books, printed matter, and rare books in specialized subject fields.
A major feature of the Library is the Visual Resources Collection which has over 2000 DVDs as well as 16mm and audio materials. Digital images are currently available through a number of licensed image databases.
History
As the premier art library collection in Atlantic Canada, the NSCAD University Library enjoys a rich and diverse history. Believed to have existed since the early, heady days of the College, the Library has developed from an eclectic collection of principals’ books to an academic library of national standing.
The Library is a partner in the Novanet group; a Nova Scotia university library consortium which facilitates the loaning of library materials between University and College libraries and provides a shared online catalogue for research and discovery.
