Breastfeeding might not come naturally for everyone and you don’t have to wait until there’s a problem to find help. Prepare for that first latch before baby arrives by taking one of Nurslings breastfeeding classes.
Nursling breastfeeding classes are interactive, honest, and full of useful information. We will teach you evidence-based techniques that are easy to remember. Most of all they are FUN! This is NOT your typical breastfeeding class that the hospital offers. We help you build your support system before baby arrives so you have the confidence and commitment to meet your goals.
GROUP CLASSES
Breastfeeding Intensive Workshop:
This class is great for first time expectant couples. The class will cover the benefits of breastfeeding, structure and function of the breast, proper latch-on and positioning, nutrition, what to expect in the early days, and the pumping and storage of breast milk. Class is 2.5 hours in duration and meets in Ladera Ranch, CA. Group classes are typically offered 1-2 times a month (CHECK EVENTS on Facebook page or www.nurslinglactation.com for upcoming classes). All materials and props are provided. Your Partner or main support person is greatly encouraged to join. The cost is $55 for mom and one partner/support person.
PRIVATE CLASSES
Breastfeeding Intensive Workshop:
This one-on-one class is great for first time expectant couples who want to learn about breastfeeding in the comfort of their own home. The class will cover the benefits of breastfeeding, structure and function of the breast, proper latch-on and positioning, nutrition, what to expect in the early days, and the pumping and storage of breast milk. Class is 2 hours in duration. All materials and props are provided. The cost is $110 for mom and one partner/support person.
Breastfeeding Refresher:
This is a unique class that’s geared towards second time parents or parents that weren’t successful breastfeeding the first time around. This class focuses on positioning, latching, and troubleshooting common breastfeeding problems. Class is 1 hour in duration. All materials and props are provided. The cost of $55 for mom and one partner/support person.
Customized Classes:
We also offer customized one-on-one classes either at your home or chosen location. You can choose from a list of topics that you are interested in. For example, maybe you are going back to work soon after baby arrives and you want to focus on “How and When to Pump” or “Set-up and use of your breast pump”. Contact us for a list of topics to chose from and duration for each topic. Private classes are $55/hr with a minumum of one hour in duration.
POSTPARTUM SUPPORT
We offer in-person breastfeeding support for new moms. Receive assistance with latch-on and positioning, and ask questions about breastfeeding. In-person support is provided by Jennifer Horne, Experienced Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC). The at-home support visit is $75 for one hour or $100 for 90 mins.
About Us
Jennifer Horne, the founder and owner of Nursling, is a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC). She provides breastfeeding education and counseling to expectant and new moms. She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. in Psychology/Pre-medicine and holds a M.B.A. from Babson College in Massachusetts. She has held various clinical research and corporate positions in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. She received her CLEC from UC San Diego. She is currently studying for her International Board Certification for Lactation Consultation to become an IBCLC where she will be able to provide help for more complicated breastfeeding cases.
My mission is to create a caring and compassionate learning environment where families can ask questions and empower themselves to create a strong foundation before their baby takes his or her first latch.
Jennifer Horne is a certified lactation educator and mom of three beautiful children. She breastfed all of her babies and each experience was very different. She encountered many challenges including going back to work but also understands the commitment and the true joy of breastfeeding.
