Brought my wife for back pain. The staff was very polite but Dr Nelson was extremely rude and unprofessional. Came into the room, did not introduce himself and just asked why are you here. Also asked why didn't we go to the previous specialist instead of coming here. Did not seem interested in the specific issue just quickly requested Xrays. Afterwards he said it was just an age problem, no big deal. Felt humiliated and was probably biased against us. Will never go there again nor will I recommend this place, not even to an enemy.
The staff seemed very polite and nice. My young son had a horrible experience with Dr. Cristofaro- he went for a buckle fracture and he wasn’t checked as he was in a soft splint. When my son shared his pain, the doctor said “You can’t ride motorcross if you’re acting like a little girl.” When my son shared what he said I thought it was a very insensitive comment and just a horrible bedside manner. Our follow up has since been cancelled and we found an AMAZING second opinion, who truly cares. I’m still in shock.
My daughter broke her elbow and I was able to make an appointment very quickly. We arrived at the office and the ladies were so kind and very professional. We were seen within minutes of our arrival. Dr. Nelson was very professional and was so patient with my four year old daughter and spoke to her very calmly while casting her arm. While he was doing so, he gave me instructions regarding bathing, medicine for the pain etc. He was quick, professional and knew how to speak to my little girl to keep her calm. When we went back a month later to have her cast removed, we were almost two hours late for our appointment due to an accident on the highway. The staff were so helpful and reassuring and were once again so kind and patient to my daughter. Dr. Nelson removed her cast quickly and once again gave me instructions. I loved how quick he was because my daughter was frightened being at the doctor and Dr. Nelson knew how to handle the situation. He didn't need to linger because he is a professional with years of experience and knew exactly what needed to be done. I highly recommend Dr. Nelson and will definitely go back to him if I am ever in need of a pediatric orthopedist again.
Unprofessional would describe my second visit to Dr. Nelson’s office. After being in a car accident, he told me that my condition is preexisting because my MRI was ordered by a chiropractor. After not being prescribed physical therapy for another month, I have been in extreme pain. Although he has been described as very experienced and highly respected, I don’t see that at all. I definitely would not recommend this doctor. A patient’s health should always come first.
Based on the prior reviews I stayed home from work and had to take the kids with me to my husband's appointment due to the fact they only had afternoon appointments. We got to the appointment 15 minutes earlier because we knew there would be paperwork. Unbeknownst to us with 5 family members 6 including myself the Dr. Robert Cristofaro was running 1hr and a half behind. The Male assistant was very rude from the door stated that the appointment was for one person. Meaning was was the rest of us ther. Finally 2 hrs later the doctor come in doesn't apologize for running behind, when we asked why he wasn't sorry he didn't feel like he was wrong. We immediately left with giving him and his staff a few choice words how unprofessional they are and will never be returning. He and his staff are the rudest group of people I have ever met and I work in the health care industry. Very disappointed and disrespectful. Dont gove this man your business.
Dr. Cristofaro is not a doctor I would recommend to anyone. After I received X-rays he told me I had a chipped elbow and I was fine, and not to put pressure on it and it would heal. I brought my own sling he told me to come back 6 weeks later just for a checkup. I receive a bill for $1,200 and that was separate from the X-ray bill. Let me remind you except for reading the x-rays and seeing me move my elbow he did nothing. With both visits I saw the doctor for less then 10 minutes. When I call about the bill Dr. Cristofaro tells me that’s what his time costs for taking up a seat in his office and I should blame Obama. When asked about the charge to the secretary she said it was the same charge to put a cast and remove it. Do not go to this doctor he is rude is overcharging customers and the insurance companies.
Dr. Cristofaro and the office staff are outstanding, caring people. We have been visiting them for 17 years for treatment of Multiple Hereditary Exostoses MHE, bone tumors that grow as a result of hereditary disease. They are experts in orthopedics and are competent, reliable, caring people who I highly recommend. From simple bone setting to extensive and detailed bone surgeries, they are excellent!
The wait time in both appointments was very long more than 45 min in the first. This office is good at taking appointments but doesn't seem to understand the importance of holding the appointment. We had castings on both legs but they provided no casting shoes and sent us on a goose chase in order to find them. Apparently they are only capable of casting and don't care about how a child is supposed to live / get around in cast. We called with questions / suggestions as to where to get children's cast shoes after being unable to find them and asked to speak directly to the doctor and we were told that he would call back when he had time but his call never came. When the castings were cut off again, both legs he didn't even look at his feet / legs to see if there was an improvement or to make a final assessment. Just generally unprofessional and I would seek help from anywhere else.
Dr Nelson has been my doctor for many years, when I've needed orthopedic care. He and Dr Cristofaro, who had seen me once or twice, are outstanding.
Dr Nelson is a sadistic man who purposefully hurts children. Please do not bring your child here!!! The WORST dr experience I have EVER had in my whole life!!! My poor daughter left in tears in pain and completely traumatized. I wish there was some kind of course of action I could take.
