I took my two sons to Dr. Cohen at WestMed and after three visits we are never going back!! They use an outdated phone system to make appointments and speak with doctors, which results in a call back many hours later and risk for phone tag which happened every time to me, bringing me back to front desk and leaving multiple messages for doctors. Frankly, this is not safe for parents needing medical attention for their children. When I brought this up with the staff at WestMed they agreed and said no one is happy with the system. One would think they would prioritize better care and communication for children!! Beyond my understanding. We arrived for my son’s flu shot and their office messed up, so we had to leave with no shot. Traveling there with two kids 4 and 1 and being turned away because of their error was very frustrating! They were not service minded and I left upset. Finally, they made the transition process as a new patient from Manhattan who moved to Harrison very challenging. They didn’t give proper information on how to transfer a patient only to hear months later that I needed to submit more information. Unprofessional! In summary, disorganized office, very hard to make appointments and once you show up for an appointment- don’t trust that they will give you care. Just warning other parents so you don’t also waste your time. Thank you.
Doctor are super nice! But the from desk staff are rude, in special " Taylor " - first floor front desk. My mom had a appointment this morning over westmed in purchase and we had a unpleasant experience. Cero stars for her!!
All calls, regardless of the phone numbers, go to a call center, who often then transfer you to another call center. Its nearly impossible to completely a simple interaction. Even when you are returning a message from your own doctor's office, you have to go through this insane process. For elderly patients, or patients who work full time, or have small children, or who are anxious about their health, or pretty much anyone, this is incredibly frustrating to put it kindly. There has to be a better way.
WestMed delivers what they promise: connected care empowered by technology. As someone who has been both a Summit and a WestMed patient, my only wish is that the two groups had a tighter integration and shared medical records and one patient portal. I recommend both WestMed and Summit.
Moving on from Westmed. No accountability or recourse through their "Patient Relations" group when had a serious complaint about an endocrinologist. Their billing department is a nightmare- one needs to be an auditor to make sure billing is correct- as it often is not. Worst though, is the lack of oversight if there is a medical complaint. No return calls, no email address at which to file a formal complaint- all smoke and mirrors.
I have never seen such blatant medical fraud. Many of the doctors I have encountered are good but the amount of time I have spent trying to correct billing is unfathomable. Ever since Summit Health took over, I have noticed a massive uptick in 'erroneous' coding. I constantly get surprise bills because they use every trick in the book to unbundle codes, add an uncovered lab test I did not know about, make up charges for 'emotional questionnaires' I never filled out... the list goes on and on. I am surprised there aren't any major lawsuits happening yet but it's hopefully only a matter of time. For those of you considering care under WestMed: don't walk away, run! As for providers, please reassess who you are working for... their fee for service model is beyond corrupt.
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CALL WESTMED MEDICAL GROUP PT DPT, THE ANSWER MACHINE HAS A THOUSAND REPEATED OPTIONS. ADDITIONALLY WHEN YOU FINALLY GET SERVICE THEY ARE VERY RUDE. THE GIRL WHO ATTENDS THE MEDICAL RECORDS DEPARTMENT TODAY HANG UP THE CALL ON ME IN A RUDE WAY 3 TIMES, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE LIKE THIS CAN WORK IN A MEDICAL FACILITY. QUITE DISAPPOINTING. SO IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO SEE DR. HASS AT THIS LOCATION BE PREPARE...
This facility has severely gone down in several major categories. First, it is impossible to talk to the appropriate support staff for scheduling appointments, billing and IT. Today alone I have been on hold for over 2 hours and have had my calls dropped 5 times. For the first 1.5hs and 4 dropped calls, I was trying to schedule an appt. I still have not been able to schedule that appt. Then my patient portal was deleted and I was told I needed to call IT. That call was also dropped. When I finally got through, the person was nice and was able to solve my issue. But why am I spending hours on the phone with so many dropped calls in order to schedule an appt or have an issue corrected? I’ve had a very similar experience with the billing department which I’ve had to contact multiple times to correct bills. I will say I do like my doctors so for now I have to suffer through all of the issues.
If I could leave 0 stars for the billing department, I would. First, I was incorrectly billed for a service. Each time I would call, someone would answer and tell me they'll forward this case to their coding department. Then radio silence. When I would call back, they'd have no record of the last call, and asked me to be patient as they were switching systems. It ended up take 5 months to finally get the bill fixed. I then paid the new bill immediately, and now Westmed claims they have not received my payment. I have called multiple times again, sent them proof of payment, a transaction ID, and the proof that they cashed my check 3 months ago, to no avail. Each time I call they open a new case and tell me that I need to wait 14 business days for a response, which makes absolutely no sense. On top of all of this, it turns out that Westmed took a while to get my to my insurance on an inquiry, and now I actually only owe a fraction out of pocket, meaning that Westmed actually OWES ME money back. It is truly unbelievable that an organization is run this way, I have wasted so many hours of my life on this, and it is still not resolved. Due to the billing department alone I could never recommend Westmed to anybody.
Had a bone marrow biopsy today . Was filled with anxiety for a week before this visit due to googling mistake and seeing the pain I'd be going through ...Fast forward to today . Dr Elizabeth Elson and Amanda her nurse were wonderful . The procedure was quick and painless . You DO feel like a crazy period cramp sort of feeling but I expected much worse. Hopefully I can ease the mind of a future patient needing this specific biopsy with my review. This procedure has some uncomfortability but I wouldn't say painful . It will be over before you know it :
