They the students and staff do their best. I don't typically have complaints. Last week, my doctor's faculty who came to review her work was incredibly rude to me and her, ignored my comments about sensitivity and refused to acknowledge her work. I've worked in education for over a decade and that's not how you mentor or treat your students especially if you're teaching them how to interact with the public and patients. She did a great job. We had a different faculty this week who was attentive and provided good guidance. My current dentist is a pro and is going to be great no matter where she goes after she finishes NYU. In general the treatment I've received here and the care that my family have received here is also great.
I have been coming here for years. They are the best. First of all, it's a teaching institution so, they are not trying to make money off of you. Secondly, an entire team reviews your procedures. Lastly, it is incredibly affordable. I actually gave up my corporate dental because NYU is better- easier to get an appointment, less expensive even with insurance it's cheaper for me to pay out of pocket. They do accept Insurance, just not what my job is offering. I really appreciate the teaching model and find the care to be thorough. I have a lot of fear and anxiety with dental work and this is the only place that I come to. Everyone is so patient and kind.
Unfortunately, I got caught up in the pandemic so the time frame for my treatment was over 2 years. Then one of the students inserted my implant backwards, however Dr Joshi took over and student doc Andrew. They made my experience better. I was treated with compassion and my process was smooth sailing after the initial gaff. I would recommend Dr Joshi as a supervisor and his team of students because his experience and leadership is exemplary. I was very frustrated and he turned my mood around and I love my implant. He promised me I would be happy in the end and look 5 stars!!! Andrew is going to be a great Dentist. He is knowledgeable knows how to connect with his patients and that goes along way!
I have been trying to get an appointment here for over 2 years. Each time I call, I am told different things and that's only if they pick up. I was told by their staff I was indeed a good fit for their disability dental clinic. I was told they don't take medicaid despite it saying it on their own website. When I pointed that out to the receptionist, she snapped at me about how that's not in her control. I was just letting you know so someone could take it off the website if its not true and then people wouldn't call and waste your time asking if you take medicaid. But to add on to that, another receptionist said you DO take medicaid. This place is very confusing and disorganized. I really needed your services and the crazy thing is, I still do! The longer it takes, the more afraid I will be of the dentist. I just wish if you weren't gonna help, You would've been upfront, honest and not let me suffer in pain for a return call that never came. I really had faith in you.
I started going to NYU dental clinic in October 2017 for a dental evaluation and any work that may be needed including one implant on the upper right quadrant which had been missing for several years. Five years and many visits later and I need more work than ever, and we are still nowhere close to replacing the tooth I originally came in for. Now that clinic has broken at least three other teeth that later needed to be removed and I’m now walking around with three missing teeth, and one half-broken-off tooth in need of extraction. With no treatment in the foreseeable future as their students will not even work on my teeth through no fault of my own. I often see ads for how great NYU College of Dentistry implants is, but they don’t tell people that it will take years to actually get one if ever. The students pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a dental degree at NYU and the school charges patients through insurance and private payments so they can practice but it treats the patients like dental training manikins. It takes weeks and sometimes months just to get an appointment and you have a bunch of follow-up appointments that could the rest of the semester to work on just one tooth. They take my blood pressure before starting a session, which has always been low as I exercise regularly and run 17-20 miles a week but all the damage they caused to my mouth required even more work than before and they wanted me to pay for the damage they caused. This resulted in a spike in blood pressure one time and asked me to leave and see a cardiologist which I did and after a battery of tests was told I was perfectly healthy. However, I refuse to go back to NYU Dental Clinic.
Best place to go to take care your smile your teeth.. I’m always happy to be there.. no pain, very fast , respectful staff always making sure to remind you about the appointment by phone text by students. I rather go here then other doctors being going there since 2016 i Believe or maybe before..
I'm glad I made the choice to come to NYU. The staff were all nice. Upon entering the 3rd floor I was greeted by a female student. Both students attending to me were so calm and attentive, I immediately felt sense of calmness. I am looking forward to future visits and would definitely recommend friends and family.
If you have an appointment at a certain time you will at least need to wait 30 more minutes until they actually attend you.Every single appointment I go to she ends up hurting my teeth. They would work on 2 people at once. Once, I was getting my x-ray and my orthodontist started working on another Person like it doesn’t make any sense work on me first then the next. I had to wait there 30 or more minutes until she was done with the other person. She rushes and tries to do things quick and messes up. Overall this was a painful and time wasting experience.
I been going to NYU of College of Dentistry for the last 2 years and they haven't even finished taking my teeth out yet. With this year coming up is gonna be 3 years. They haven't been rude with me. Why are they taking so long to do my procedure and to put in some dentures. I don't know why they are taking so long. My kids are willing to pay a co-payment just for them to finsihed my procedure. I will not recommend the NYUCD if you need teeth right away. Is a nightmare going on vacations and go and see your family with no teeth. OHHH!!!! and there appointments are 3 or 4 months apart.
All of my experiences with the student dentists have been wonderful. And I love the added bonus of double checked work! Everyone is very nice and kind.
