I was in the ambulatory for heart procedure.. The nurses there couldn’t be nicer especially Samantha M and Nancy, they get five stars, wish I could give them six! Everyone was so nice and caring and helpful. The doctors were great. The food was too plain and not hot. St.Frances does the food right. Other hospitals could learn from them. Thank you all for getting me home!
Let me start by saying DO NOT use this hospital for your medical needs!!! 15 hours in the ER without any relief for my husbands pain. My husband was involved in a near fatal accident and suffers severely. We notified his surgeon that he was coming and the hospital refused to get in touch with him. After asking how much longer the check in nurse replied under her breath “been here an hour and wants service”. After being told “don’t worry we’re going to make you comfortable”, my husband suffered so badly he was begging for someone to look at him. They were treating patients in the hall leaving elderly unattended for hours in a wheelchair and a blanket. Another nurse handled blood without gloves and cleaned up garbage also without gloves. After being admitted for the night I told my husband to pack his belongings that I’m coming to get him. Nurses unaware of orders, no personal care, no bedside manner. When I arrived to pick him up I was asked for my vaccine or a negative Covid test!!!! Ummmm I was in your ER for 15 hours!!!! People with non emergencies were being helped first! A man that was bleeding profusely was pushed aside and left for hours while others who had insurance were seen first!!!! When I say STAY AWAY please take my advise I wish I took the advise of the reviews before that horrible experience. 0 stars!!!
Labor and delivery amazing I have nothing bad to say about the department I gave birth about 3 weeks ago this hospital is amazing from the beginning til the end. They were very friendly and understanding. Dr Cohen delivered my baby he’s a great doctor I honestly recommend him. The nicu department is great I have so much great things to say about them they are like angels. They took great care of my baby even after I was discharged my baby had to stay for a couple more days they treated him amazing. They said I can call anytime I wanted to find out about my baby and every time I did call they were so friendly and answered all my questions. I 100% recommend this hospital to any moms getting ready to have their little bundle of joy . Again labor and delivery and the nicu department are the best I love them and all the staff.
My mom has had her share of medical battles and this may be her last. She has been here for the past three weeks and I can not thank the entire HOAG 2nd floor medical nursing team enough. Their knowledge and expertise combined with their compassion and empathy has mastered the perfect balance for the care needed towards their patients/your loved ones. I applaud the team work that has been demonstrating not just to my mom but to all the patient they come In contact with. Of course, nothing can be perfect, so, there are a few nursing assistants that are showing themselves to be tired and unhappy to perform the good quality of care which is needed. To those few, I recommend they move on and find another type of job they themselves would be happy with. Thank you NYU Langone/Winthrop Hospital for all the employees within the lobby cafe. They let me share my moms experiences in chat while lending an ear. To the cleaning crew who makes sure the smallest of details were taken care of throughout the hospital, thank you. Thank you for making our mom, grandma, great grandma and family feel like we were your family too.
They gave my fiancé a patient here, a tray with just coffee for lunch! Handed it to her with a straight faced saying “Here I have a tray for you”! Nurses were amazing courteous and took special interest and provided excellent care. Be aware they don’t have some of specialist doctors on legal holidays, so we had to wait for the next day for that,
Stay away from this place especially the ER. The nurses or techs there at the front desk are disgusting. Took my mom when she was having shortness of breath and chest pain. She was in obvious pain. I work at an urgent care and when we hear chest pain we immediately put the patient in the room. The techs or nurses were laughing and fooling around while patients are waiting to be seen. After about 10 minutes they finally call her name. The tech that wanted to d the EKG was wearing a backpack? I express how unprofessional they are and decided to take my mom somewhere else. I told them they had no urgency to see my mom. One of them mocked me and started to argue with me. As I was leaving they started to laugh and call me crazy. I don’t understand why these people even work in healthcare it’s truly saddening that our family members are treated by trashy people. I took my mom to the queens Presbyterian hospital in queens and they immediately took her in to get an EKG once I wheeled her inside and said chest pain. They were AMAZING. Professional and caring.
Yesterday I was brought into the ER via ambulance unable to breathe. The nurse checking me in said “she’s a smoker, take away her oxygen”. When my O2 level dropped below 90% and the EMT tried to give me back the oxygen, she told him to take it way from me. She then sent me to the walk in waiting room without telling anyone I was there. I spent the next two hours unable to breathe and no one would help me. I asked a nurse to get me a patient advocate since no one seemed to care that I couldn’t breathe. That nurse refused saying a patient advocate was not available to patients. Eventually I had a full blown panic attack and tried to leave. THAT is when someone a security guard decided I needed a doctor and moved me to the fast track section. While the dr in that area was extremely nice, the nurse was another nasty and rude woman. In the end, they sent me home still unable to breathe and with nothing to help me do so. This hospital was a mess when it was Winthrop. Now that it is NYU Langone it is even worse.
My personal experience with the Doctors was a good one. They listened attentively and understood my health concerns. They provided a temporary solution in prescribing a medication which lowered my pain. As well as suggestions on following up with certain specialists. My main problem with this hospital has to do with the way they operate. Which is inefficient inept and nonsensical. They make you wait longer after having already seen the Doctor. Instead of doing the necessary exams and last vitals check and discharging you right after. They make you wait each time. A lot of unnecessary wait time. Also one of the nurses was so incompetent she took my blood pressure in my forearm. Overall this place is very chaotic. You’re better off going elsewhere.
I took my husband to the ER last night after having 105.1 temperature. Though his temp went down but not away we sat there for 2.5 hours and was not seen. That is absolutely unacceptable, not to mention we were sitting damn near at the front door and the ER was empty. I can count on 1 hand how many people walked through that door as we sat there waiting. Wintrop use to be the best its service has shifted drastically over the years.
I would give zero star! Worst emergency i have ever seen in USA! It’s been 6 hours I was waiting with my 9/10 painful injured back fell stairs down and they didn’t even give me a simple pain medication or doctor didn’t show up atall during this 6 hours! A nurse was specifically very rude! As if she is doing favor to the hospital by her presence! I also work in a world famous hospital but our emergency doesn’t make patients suffer like this! Atleast you can train your nurses to talk nicely to patients! Even after multiple requests, no doctor showed up in 6 hours! One star is even too much for this hospital.
