So, my wife and I have gotten food from here about four times now, and it has quickly become my favorite restaurant. Firstly, it has an incredibly welcoming and tranquil atmosphere; the woman who I assume runs the place has an infectious kindness toward her patrons and provides excellent customer service. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and charming too. The food, which is naturally the main attraction, is superb. It is all made from scratch and feels wholly authentic to Taiwan, at least in my limited experience with Taiwanese cuisine. Everything looks great and tastes delicious, and the bao are the best I've eaten. It's all well worth the price, too, which is standard for this kind of higher-quality Asian cuisine. We will definitely be back many times over.
Me and my friend have tried many different restaurants around this area, since we like to try new restaurants every time we go to eat. Oakland Tea House is solidly in our top 3 favorite places, if not number 1. We went here for the first time not too long ago, and let me tell you, this was the BEST food I have had in a while! The pork dumplings are phenomenal! It's been a few days since I've eaten there and I still can't stop thinking about them. But it's not just the dumplings that are delicious, the other food that we got was just as good. I had read the reviews before going, and saw many people had seemed to like the beef noodle soup. Now, this is the type of thing neither my friend nor I would naturally gravitate towards to order. However, I am so glad that we got it. It was so warm and flavorful. It felt like sitting on a couch cuddled up with a book and cup of tea on a rainy day. It was so comforting. The shop has a homey feel and is run by a very nice couple. The woman at the counter was so kind and helped us by recommending some dishes to us. Some of the reviewers said the food took a long time to come out, but that wasn't the case for us, though there weren't many people there when we went. Regardless, if the food took even an hour or two longer to come out, I would still happily sit and wait. It is so worth it! You can clearly taste the care that is put into each dish. Honestly, I can't recommend this place enough and will back very very soon.
A total gem! Everything was delicious. Staff was very friendly and explained dishes. Brought spice on the side so we could custom to our own heat level.Food: 5/5
The food is good and the boss is super nice. We got the cucumber salad, Dan Dan noodles, Gua bao, and shaved ice. I would highly recommend them all.Food: 5/5
Super good food. Small location. Seems like it’s just a mom and pop shop. Lady working was super nice felt like a grandma with her saying we need to eat more. Good food but just be prepared for a wait, it’s worth it.
The owner was friendly and offered us a sample of smoothie. This was our first time dining in and everything was delicious, and fresh. The portions were more than what we expected and left feeling full.
delicious taiwanese food in metro detroit! highly recommend the owner is really friendly and the store is super cozy. while we were waiting for our food, the owner gave us free samples of the taro smoothie which is made with REAL TARO most places make it with a powder and was so tasty!! we ended up ordering 3 to go at the end our meal. also got the chili wontons which were delicious, definitely very spicy and the portion size is huge it’s listed under appetizer but it’s the size of an entree braised beef noodle soup - really hearty and tons of meat and veggies too! highly recommend for those who want to try taiwanese beef noodle soup but don’t eat spicy food minced pork rice with the pork belly add on for $3 — a classic taiwanese dish and they made it well - very authentic flavor! highly recommend checking this place out :
The food is just amazing. What’s better? After eating all of these, you don’t feel like a slug!!! The food tastes clean, as if it truly is nurturing the body. Everything is homemade and tasted extremely familiar to an Asian from Asia, there’s no doubt about that. Best part is the hospitality of the owners. Definitely recommend!
I love this place. It’s a hidden gem. food is always fresh and super tasteful. My boyfriend and I come here often when we can. We always get the Dan Dan noodles and the Black pepper pork belly and crispy salty chicken. The braised pork belly with veggies looks amazing, we are going to get that next time. The owner is always so sweet and attentive as well. For dessert I love the mango pana cotta. Try this place! You won’t be disappointed.
So glad that metro Detroit finally has a Taiwanese restaurant! This is the most authentic Taiwanese food I have found outside of Taiwan. I will definitely be coming back. The DanDan noodles are great, as were the chili oil wontons and the Lu Rou Fan. Also, the owners are so friendly!
