Oakwood Dog Park

About

Located "Under the Oaks" in historic Oakwood w/ separate parks for large & small/disabled dogs. The park is well-kept by volunteers.

Description

Q: Why are there two fenced off areas?
A: These two areas are aptly named the "Small Dog Park" and the "Big Dog Park."

The "Big Dog Park" is for all dogs, regardless of size. However, we do ask that if it is crowded or if your small dog is skittish around larger dogs, to please take your dog into the "Small Dog Park."

The "Small Dog Park" is for smaller dogs, as well as those who are elderly or "slower" and want to enjoy the socialization of the dog park. This area is also an excellent section of the park for new dog-parkers to try out the dog park before entering into the larger area. Please use this area wisely.

DOG PARK RULES:

- Daily hours of operation are from sunrise to sunset.

- All dogs outside the off-leash dog park fence must be and remain on a leash at all times (City Code 12-3011).

- It shall be unlawful for any person in charge of a dog to fail to remove feces deposited by the dog on publicly owned property (City Code Sec. 12-3011[b]).

- It shall be unlawful for an owner to fail to provide current rabies inoculation for any dog 4 months or older. The metal tag shall be securely fastened to the dog’s collar (City Code 12-3008).

- Puppies using this park must be a minimum of 4 months old. All dogs shall be healthy and properly vaccinated.

- Handlers must carry a leash and remain inside the fenced area within view and voice control of their dogs at all times.

- Acts of aggression against other dogs or people are prohibited. Dogs must be removed if uncontrollable.

- Handlers must stop dogs from digging and must fill any hole created by their dogs.

- Close adult supervision is required at all times for children under the age of 12.

- No dog food or toys of any kind are allowed within the off-leash area.

Lots of room to run and certainly lots of shade. People were very nice and were good about watching their dog and allowing to play and run. A great hose down station as well as filling up the many buckets of water scattered around. This park reminds me a lot of Carolina Pines Dog Park.
BEST DOG PARK EVER!! I am not an outdoor type at all. I have to make myself take the pups out. This park was wonderful. Tons of tree coverage. You don’t feel too hot or exposed at all. Lots of space for the pups and a great place to walk yourself. I will definitely go back. Take the pups. You’ll thank me later!
I don't have a dog, but I live very close to this place. Watching all the dogs play and have fun is something I see when walking by this place every day. You'll often see a lot of dogs in there but dont worry there is plenty of room and share. It's definitely worth a visit if you've got a pooch.
This is the largest dog park I’ve ever been to!! The best kept, largest, cleanest, the dog owners are so nice. Shade in the summer. Lots of trees. Love it here
Great park for the spring and summer seasons. A canopy of trees covers the entire park so the heat is low. The small dog section has a good deal of space, and the large dog side is massive. The ground is entirely dirt, so it's not the go-to park after rain, but there's other great parks for those conditions, so I don't hold it against oakwood. Plenty of seating for owners, and everyone is conversational. Hard to go wrong with this park... as long as it hasn't rained
i love love love love LOVEEE! this dog park. It’s super big! i have a miniature golden doodle and i like how the small part of the dog area is super big too. the owners are nice and really look out for their dog. the area is clean ppl pick up after their dogs. there’s lots of water bowls everywhere and water hose so you pup would never be thirsty. such a nice dog park 10/10
Great park, lots of shade. Water was available for dogs to drink and to play in kiddie pool. Some chairs, might want to bring your own.
A great place to take your furry friends! Has both a big and small dog yard, and there are always extra bags and plenty of water dishes. Lots of human seating options as well. There are restrooms and a picnic area available just outside the fenced in area if needed as well as other ballfields for the kids. Plenty of parking spaces too!
Large, well shaded dog park with a separate area for little dogs.
Been here a few times since getting a new puppy. The people I've encountered was very nice and it seems liked a little community is being formed here. The park was clean and the bathrooms was decent. I would definitely come back here. No complaints here... Oh and my puppy likes going here too. Leash free, if you're wondering
