Oglebay Institute is a non-profit arts and cultural organization in Wheeling, WV that offers year-round entertainment and educational programs in visual arts, performing arts, dance, history and nature.
The objective of Oglebay Institute is to be a leader in its disciplines by improving quality of life through education, recreation, culture and creative outlets for personal and professional growth and enrichment. Grounded in the successful traditions of its past, Oglebay Institute acts singly or collaborates with other organizations; serves a diverse audience; and challenges itself through its expansive vision to continually respond to the needs of its many publics.
Oglebay Institute offers entertainment 48 weekends each year - live music, theater, children's theater, cinema, dance concerts, wine tasting, special events & more. Other programs include a changing art exhibition season, history programs, live glass working & nature programs for all ages to celebrate and study the natural world. Hundreds of classes are offered in the visual and performing arts - painting, pottery, drawing, theater, dance, etc. Summer day camps for children ages 3 -13 are offered from June - August on a variety of art and nature topics. School programs designed to enhance content standards and objectives are available for West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania schools.
