Extremely convenient to walk to shopping and dining. Somebody put a lot of thought into the space because it had a lot of small details that made it homey. I was shocked at how clean and wonderful it was because we didn't even find dust anywhere. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend it to my family and friends. We had 4 adults stay in a two bed with 1.5 bath. It was so much better than being in a hotel and gave us so much space to be social with each other in the living area. Absolutely loved the place and all of the wonderful little details in it.
The place was very nice. We 6 women stayed in 902 for the 2 full baths. Most comfortable sleeper sofa I have ever been on. Because there were 6 women, we ran out of toilet paper and needed fresh towels which is what they offer if we needed them. We text and emailed Jessica one evening with no response. Next morning, we called her and she said she had given us enough towels and toilet paper. She told us there was no concierge service and we needed to go buy toilet paper if we needed more. She did send a guy over with more towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper. Thanks, Jessica. Sorry if our $900.00 3 night stay payment didn't include toilet paper in the cost. They also charge a $50.00 cleaning fee. There was popcorn under the couch and a huge plastic bubble wrap under one of the beds when we got there. But everything else appeared clean.
Parking 1-space per suite 20 feet from door. Cozy courtyard with birds/ bird feeders and two small fountains in the brick privacy wall. Typical savannah charm. Key codes for entry super easy. Accommodations clean, air works wonderfully. Kitchen is small but functional. Bathrooms are spacious. Living area comfortable. Bedroom large with a comfortable King in ours. Only downside, as a middle aged person with two bad knees the stairs are a challenge. No elevator but there’s not room for one. Would not recommend the top floor room unless you are fit!
Oglethorpe Lodge is a great place to stay in Savannah and it is about as good of a location as you can ask for. Property manager was very nice and checked on us during our stay to make sure everything was good. - 1 parking space per unit is included. This is a HUGE perk. Your car is right outside your door, no need to go into a parking garage. - Patio is a great touch for relaxing on a beautiful day - If you like standard tavern/bar food, PS Tavern right down the street is very good and a fun atmosphere. - As others have mentioned, stairs are required to get to the 2nd/3rd floors.
Lovely three unit building on Bay St. Stayed in the 3rd floor unit no elevator with one bedroom. Has a full kitchen and one and a half baths. Great location, access via code, helpful extras such as nightlights and ceiling fan. Soooo much more space than a hotel room. Free parking spot in alley. Busy bar next door but never heard it from indoors.
Conveniently located near the center of River Street in the North Historic District, Oglethorpe Lodge is a unique three-story hotel more similar to a stacked townhouse with one rental per floor. Spacious renovated units have a full kitchen, bedroom, multiple bathrooms, and a living room area with a fold-out couch. Reserved complimentary self parking is available directly near the entrance, which is off East Bay Lane alley inside a small courtyard. Easily within walking distance to River Street, City Market, Forsyth Park, and many shops and restaurants, including a small eatery with a beer garden next door. Modem with a historic feel. Highly recommended for families due to the desirable location, spacious layout, and availability of close parking,
I stayed this past weekend with Oglethorpe Lodge for a bachelorette party and cannot recommend it enough. Our trip was initially canceled due to Hurricane Irma; Oglethorpe Lodge was easy to work with throughout the whole process and helped us find an equitable solution. When we finally did make it to Savannah, we were all very impressed with our rooms. The space was clean and comfortable, and even though we were at street level, it was very quiet. We were stocked with plenty of sheets and towels, and the caretaker dropped by in the morning to see if we needed anything else. The location is also excellent and within easy walking distance of all the historic and riverfront sites. Oglethorpe Lodge's location, quality, and professional staff made our trip wonderful, and I would definitely stay here again on any future Savannah trips.
We stayed at Oglethorpe Lodge for our wedding in October and it was absolutely perfect! We had great access to our venue on Bay Street and it made for a great space for pre-wedding photos! Everything about it was perfect. And we definitely ate/drank at Treylor Park next door on multiple occasions. The best part, especially with the hustle and bustle of a wedding weekend, was having the parking space available! Such a HUGE convenience in downtown Savannah! We are hoping to head back to Savannah for our anniversary and will definitely try to stay at Oglethorpe again!
This could be a great place to stay depending on when you go. We stayed in room 903. This is going to look like a bad review. But I just want to give details on everything since some might care, and some might not. Pros: The kitchen was well stocked if you are planning on cooking. The look of the unit was very nice. Tall ceilings, and beautiful windows. Nice king bed. LOVED the location! And you do have your own parking space which is nice. I thought the lodge itself was beautiful, inside and outside. Cons: They had just painted 903 a day or two before our arrival and you cannot open any windows in this room and there are no bathroom fans. We felt sick due to this and there was nothing they could do. Obviously this will not be an issue anymore unless you want fresh air in general. The cable and internet stopped working. They did fix this and the owner was very nice, but it took a good 2.5 hours after calling and asking. The floors looked and felt like it was not vacuumed. As far as the look of the room/unit this is my only complaint. You have one parking spot for your unit. It’s really confusing because E Bay st is one way, but the way google took us was to the opposite end where it says do not enter you can see this on google street view. The hotel employee next door to the Lodge helped us get in this way which was very nice. If you go in from Drayton street you may have to stop and move some possibly a lot of bikes. The parking spots are between a hotel and the back end of a restaurant where there is a garden bar. If you prefer not to have people smoking next to your car or having them use your car as a table or something to lean on, you will either want to stay somewhere else or park somewhere else. There is a parking garage right behind the lodge. If you are there on a Sunday night it won’t be so bad. The door to the Lodge shuts very loudly and you will hear it every time someone staying at the Lodge enters and exits. You will hear it loudly from your room. You will also hear everyone in the garden bar. I was able to lessen the noise when going to bed by shutting the bathroom and bedroom doors. Oh and although the windows were awesome, they really need to clean them. When you open the storm windows the ones you CAN open, but still no fresh air it’s filthy. Misc Info that may be helpful: there are three flights of stairs for unit 903. No view of the water, but I saw the top of a cargo ship going through which was very cool. We definitely enjoyed Sunday night much more than Saturday night. Sunday night was so peaceful. So with all this said. I still would love to stay there again.
Very roomy. Stayed for bachelorette weekend. Only gave three stars because several ladies had a hard time breathing and developed a cough only when inside the house. Not sure if furniture needs to be cleaned thoroughly or if it's something else. All of our coughing and stuffiness went away when outside. Other than this issue, cute place with plenty of pillows, towels provided.
