I love the gluten free options! All their food is wonderful but it's the only place I know in all or Utah that makes gluten free and dairy free treats, giving the sugary goodness I've been craving but haven't been able to obtain here. My only complaint is how much potato flour they use. Their treats are still amazing. I wish their cheese didn't contain bell peppers but I can't expect anyone to cater to nightshade allergies and make things gluten-free/vegan.
I like this place but be prepare to get charge a lot if your cake has fruit on the top. I went to get a cake and the said the price was $33.00, the cashier boxed the cake and when I am ready to pay it was $41.50! I asked why so much, he said it was for the fruit on top. 24 blue berries were around $8.00. That is a lot! The recipe don’t list the item or taxes. Update: I got a business response that there is a fee for gluten-free but the cake I got it was Not gluten free. The business just overcharged me. It will be helpful to have a list of prices display, this way cashiers will not add extra costs.
Crazy expensive for not great cupcakes. Large gluten free selection. They looked pretty, but we're kinda dry and the icing was no better than grocery store frosting. Hard to justify $50+ for 18 mediocre cupcakes... The kids at the birthday party didn't even eat them all and left half cupcakes, if that is any indication. Service was ok, but they won't do anything custom unless you order ahead.
It is so hard to find gluten free as well as Vegan food/desserts! I was so happy to find this Gem ! We loaded up on all the goodies and ate a maple donut as we left. I wish there was one of these in Idaho! Even. My husband who doesn't eat gf/vegan was very impressed. Staff was very friendly also ! Highly recommend!
We had a great experience working with City Cakes & Cafe! A group of us came in town to celebrate birthdays and I was recommended the bakery by a colleague. We had some ordering miscommunications but the team was really helpful with getting those resolved! The cakes turned out great and we really liked how they tasted.Recommended dishes
I'm a frequent visitor to this vegan bakery and absolutely love all of the pastries. The German chocolate tart and the fruit tart are my favorite, but really I've loved all their cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. They also have a limit selection of food and it's all super yummy. Staff is also very nice and aware of dietary restrictions. Lots of gluten free options as well! Definitely worth a visit to this place for food or dessert.
City cakes is my go-to for anything Gluten Free. I needed a cake the same day and they had several beautiful options in their case. Their pricing seems reasonable compared to non GF bakeries. We got the GF chocolate cake and EVERYONE loved it including those who normally eat gluten.
My last visit was super disappointing and it caused a gluten flare up for me. I came to pick up my favorite gluten free pumpkin bread from the bakery and went home to find out that while there was a gluten free sticker on the loaves, the ingredient list sticker said that it contained flour. I only realized after having a slice since I had previously picked up a loaf before and thought I could trust the bakery again. I should’ve been more careful on my part but multiple loaves were mislabeled and dangerous for those with true celiac disease. Dietary restrictions: Please be careful with mislabeling
Updated review: 2-6-18 My review was originally 5 stars, but I have dropped it down to two stars. Reason: We ordered a raspberry cheesecake, vegan and gluten free. It was not cooked in the middle/bottom. Pretty disappointing seeing as it wasn't very cheap, and you would think they could have at least cooked it all the way. Result: Do not order a full cake. But do go for the individual items they have on sale. If they would have cut our cheesecake to serve it as individual slices I really would hope they would have just thrown it away. -9 months previous This place is amazing at making sure their gluten free food is safe for someone with celiacs disease. It really doesn't get better than this. If you are in the Salt Lake City area and you can't eat gluten this place needs to be at the top of your list of places to eat.
A gluten free bakery with excellent red velvet cake. Our experience twice within a week was really great! Ready-to-go cakes are available quite reasonably under $30 for your small gathering and can be customized for your occasion. This cake was decorated for a new nurse at the U. We enjoyed courteous service and delightful treats for the remainder of the week. There are soups and other items available to take home, too, so beyond the sugary stuff, one can find wholesome eats too!
