Old Mission Elementary School (OMPS), a pre-kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school located on the beautiful Old Mission Peninsula, is nestled amidst cherry orchards high on a hill overlooking the Grand Traverse Bay. Erected in 1956 to consolidate 7 country schoolhouses, OMPS was annexed to Traverse City Area Public Schools in 1968. Fully renovated in 2005-6, the architect, an alumni parent, maintained the integrity of the original school while integrating the latest standards in design and technology. This beautiful renovation supports our goals for student achievement. With a history of offering cutting edge opportunities to students, Old Mission Elementary has continued forward with plans to further integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (or STEAM) into our instruction.
Consistent support from both staff and community have allowed our students to achieve excellence and accolades, both in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities. We take great pride in our success; we work very hard to expand upon our success for every child, every day.
