"The Old State House Museum is the original state capitol of Arkansas. Since 1833, when construction began, the building and its grounds have witnessed many of the most important events in Arkansas history. The Old State House has hosted the admission of Arkansas to the Union, a fatal knife fight between two sitting legislators, the Arkansas vote to secede from the United States and join the Confederacy, pioneering medical research into hookworm and malaria, and two acceptance speeches by the president of the United States."

Wow! A free museum in a really cool historic building. Great exhibits. Lovely building. A bit confusing to get around, but they have maps available. Well worth a visit. Plan on an hour to an hour and a half.
Really enjoyed the exhibits in this museum. There was plenty of info on the building and renovations of the Courthouse itself and also exhibits on Barton Coliseum, governors of AR, etc Another visit is needed to finish the 2nd floor exhibits!!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Love the creaky wood floors. This museum is full of history they rotate the inventory periodically so it's different everytime I visit. My favorite room is the first ladies dress room. You can feel the ghosts of the past all around you.
What a wonderful exhibit and historical Old State House Museum. At this moment, not all areas are open but shouldn't deter tourists. Warm, welcoming greeting and much to look at. Halls echo of legislation and the care in restoration in the drawing, meeting and tea rooms are outstanding. Take a closer look Down the Rabbit Hole for sports, music and art collections rarely seen. Old State House Museum is a must stop in Little Rock.
The building and grounds are nice but there's really not much displayed.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Good, modern museum with a lot of interesting facts about Arkansas history. Visiting the older buildings on the grounds was really fascinating for me, because it took me back into the early 1800's and gave me a feel for how life was then.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$6–10

One of the landmark highpoints of Little Rock. Amazing restoration and detail in every room. Check out the Barton Coliseum exhibit. Can't say enough positive comments about it. Very highly recommended
