It was a cool tour, our tour guide was very enthusiastic about the boat. The tug boat Hoga has more off limits areas including the engine room. In the museum area there is a good diarom of pearl harbor pre-attack.
Very interesting tour of a WW2 US submarine. Amazing to see how the sailors lived and fought underwater. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.
Awesome place to visit. Be prepared to ascend vertical ladders in and out of the sub. Access has not been modified with stairs. 14 foot vertical ladders are the only way in /out.Visited onWeekendWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
I've traveled to many places and seen many things but to see the insides of a submarine, to walk among its narrow corridors was an absolutely stunning life experience. That and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. Their knowledge on the subject was truly top marks. I shall never forget this.
Due to traffic arrived late, they had just locked the doors to go home after a day of work giving tours. Said come back tomorrow, so I explained I was passing through, would be 100 miles down the road. One of the staff smiled and said follow me. He reopened the doors to the sub and gave me a personal tour, not rushing. I told him I hated taking up his personal time, he said he was happy to. Great tour & Great staff..much thanks to them.
The tour was interesting. I only wish I could have spent more time looking around. It was a small group and I felt that I was holding everyone else up.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Guided tour of the sub, self guided tour of the tug boat and access to the small museum, which features a pretty neat miniature of pearl harbor. Interesting spot for all ages! You do have to able to climb down and up a 15ft ladder for sub tour.
Great tour of this old historic world traveling submarine from World War II and beyond.
It's always fascinating for a former naval officer like myself to go onboard an old submarine and compare it to movies about submarines in the past. This sub is well kept, but be forewarned: to enter and exit you have to use ladders through narrow openings. Also, the passageways and interior space are VERY cramped. The heavier and more out of shape you are, the more difficult it will be to maneuver through the sub. Remember, these boats were built for young men in good shape the average age in the US Navy in the 90's was 19. It's fascinating to imagine how the crew lived in this cramped an environment for months without seeing the sun or breathing fresh air.
Do you completely dig military history? Do you absolutely love being in a enclosed metal capsule underwater? Do you want to have the coolest guide named Kyle? If you said yes to any of that you're in luck. All of the claustrophobia, military submarine, Kyle Tour guide goodness is there. As for me and my anxiety, the pictures I took will live on, safely onshore and out of a metal capsule underwater.
