Excellent! My 7 year old son and I had an amazing time. Great for all ages. Hands on for kids...and kids and heart. The costumed reactors are everywhere and give really interesting information. The grounds are beautiful, and the town is actually pretty big. It's like stepping back in time. In fact, I told my son we were going to be taking a time machine back in time to 1835. He was very into it, and wants to return for Halloween and Christmas.

Great place to stop and learn about New England life in the early 1800s. There are many buildings of the period, furnished as they would have been. The have knowledgeable people in period dress there happy to educate and demonstrate many of the roles and daily tasks of a blacksmith, Cooper, cabinet maker, potter, and banker. They also did some baking and braiding straw for hats as well as read some letters of what it was like for women and the issues of that period.
This place is fascinating, but I would make sure to wear closed toed shoes. It's all dirt roads, which makes sense. The people working there were very knowledgeable and answered all the questions you could think of. They make everything there, a potter, Cooper, farmers, gardeners,etc. They also have good and water on-site. The chocolate chip cookies are quite delicious.
This is a remarkable destination. So many interesting things to do and see. I highly recommend getting the membership, even if you only go for one day you get a discount at the shops. you can see a lot in a few hours or spend the day enjoying all the attractions. If it's raining just bring an umbrella, there are plenty of indoor attractions.
Honestly a great place to go for all ages. Plenty to see and do. My favorite part are the various games they have scattered throughout the village. Free to play. You can go into every building. And they usually have someone in every building to chat with you about it. It really immerses you in the experience. I wish they sold more old timey clothes. Food is good. Plenty of it. Places to eat and bathrooms on site. It's a large place so expect lots of walking. But there are plenty of places to sit. Lots of animals as well.
My wife and I decided to check OSV out on a beautiful Sunday. I myself am not the biggest fan of museums and historical sites, however this place is amazing. All of the buildings are curated perfectly and the workers are very interactive and eagerly want to share information. There is something for everyone to enjoy. My wife and I could have sat in the blacksmith shop all day. Veterans and active duty have free admission.
Always loved going to villages like this. Will go back. It has changed a bit over the years. Still a very interesting place tosee how life was in the 1800s
One of those places that you can go to over and over again. The amount of skill people had to have back then is amazing. Watching the blacksmith, the Cooper and the housewife making do with the ovens of the time. It's is an amazing step back into history. The actors seem very realistic to the period. The animals all look very well cared for. A wonderful time even in the rain.
