Description

Originally farmland, Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery was established in 1952. When our funeral home was added in 1965, we became one of the first funeral home and cemetery combinations in Colorado. With the silhouette of Colorado’s majestic Rocky Mountains to the west, the cemetery has graceful curved walkways, flowers and waterfall areas that provide calming places for reflection in an atmosphere of peace and serenity.

Our main building features a chapel with comfortable seating for 175 people, visitation rooms and arrangement rooms. The Sanctuary of Peace, a featured garden within our cemetery, offers families a beautiful place for permanent memorialization with areas designated for cremation, family estates, bench and gated estates, and private estates.

Patrick handled my Dads service so wonderfully. He always made sure we had exactly what we needed and made the process of dealing with the loss of a parent very simple. He even spoke to me at 10pm at night to initially set everything up and would call periodically to ensure we didn’t have questions. Patrick took care of everything, I didn’t have to make calls to set up anything which was nice. He made a very stressful time, very smooth and stress free. It was great to know that Patrick was taking care of everything, I would trust Olinger with any of my family members services. I was so pleased with their services.
staff here at olinger is down to earth very respectful regardless of the faith i’m a muslim Allhamdolillah and they showed all the respect at my wife’s burial. Zaida she is very kind, humble and, professional , she is helping me with the headstone for my wife. i thank Glenn, Zaida, and all the staff members to help me through this difficult time.
Patrick and his team were wonderful! From recommending a minister that beautifully memorialized my mom’s life to making sure everything went smoothly. Thank you so much for your support, professionalism, and care for a grieving family.
Recently a family member suffered a loss and asked my advice on who to contact. I had worked with Patrick Atencio in the past and knew how wonderful he is so I called and asked him to help. He went to work right away and contacted my family member and helped set up an absolutely wonderful service for them. He was available at all hours for questions and treated the family like they were his own. I will always recommend Patrick to anyone who asks for help. Thank you Patrick!
This week was holiday cemetery cleanup week to pickup everything left from Memorial Day only but they decided to throw away every vase of flowers to the trash and this is not the first time. These employees have no respect towards families and the people that have been buried. I find this very disrespectful of them. Now it looks so sad and forgotten.
Ashley Casados was absolutely amazing. My family was a walk in with no appointment, Ashley treated us just like we had an appointment. This is the second funeral we have done here for our family. Ashley was the sweetest, kindest person. Even when we made changes, she was always so positive. She is an absolute treasure. She goes above and beyond!
My cousin passed in February 2023. After multiple calls/messages, we still have not received the "globe" with his ashes and its now June 2023. There have been NO returned calls and no refund processed. These globes are over $300! Original urn was given to us in a timely manner along with locks of hair requested. We just need to know what's going to happen now, we don't want a globe with someone else's ashes!
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE! Funeral director PATRICK ATENCIO is the EPITOME OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Patrick listened to our needs and offered suggestions, all the while being sympathetic and understanding. My sister had a BEAUTIFUL FUNERAL. Our family would like to thank Patrick and the team for their compassion and professionalism. Thank you, Patrick. You are an exceptional person and funeral director.
My family has had a relationship with this funeral home going back at least 50 years. They buried my mother, my father, several aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. The service my family received during those sad times was exceptional - they were sincere, professional, and offered an unparalleled level of care and sympathy for my family. So when my brother unexpectedly passed away in February 2023, I automatically turned to Olinger as they have always been my family's trusted funeral services provider. Sadly, I had a completely different experience this time. and did not received the level of service we were accustomed to in the past. I initially did not sense the same warmth we had known in the past and was made to sit through a lengthy PowerPoint sales deck advertising jewelry and urns. Further, I became concerned when the burial representative could not locate my parents' burial records so that my brother's ashes could be interred next to them. Apparently, because of the dates of their death, "they weren't in the system." He told us we would have to "show" him the gravesites ourselves. We ended up finding them, after a chilly winter hike through the cemetery. Unfortunately, I learned that the cost to inter his ashes at that site would be prohibitive - at least $4,000. I eventually decided on cremation, an urn, and a glass orb for a total of $3,400. At this point, I had hoped everything was settled, but unfortunately, I ended up in the middle of a blatant miscommunication among Olinger, the hospital, and the organ donor program as to the logistics and cost of transporting my dear brother's body to the funeral home. I was appalled to have this dispute even brought to my attention as s bereaved family member should not be burdened with these details. At this point, I flew home to return to work. For a reason I don't understand, they called me to tell me the exact moment my brother would be cremated. We had not discussed this in advance, and I found it unsettling and upsetting. I then heard nothing for several weeks. My cousin and I eventually contacted them to check on my brother's status, and we learned he was "ready." Given the delay, I would have expected them to be more communicative, but I was glad to have my brother at peace. At this point, I still had not received the glass orb that I had ordered, which was meant to be made with my brother's ashes. After at least another 10 weeks, I still had not received it and promised follow-up calls from Olinger were never received. After filing an online complaint, I finally heard just this week on Memorial Day that the orb was ready. However, at this point, given my experience and the extensive delay, I don't trust that it even contains my brother's ashes. I feel extremely disappointed that my experience with the death of my loved one was nowhere near what my family had experienced with Olinger for the last several decades. Not only did the actual process of cremation get completely bungled, but the compassion and sincerity I had felt previously were sadly nonexistent, intensifying my grief. In hindsight, I wish I had not relied on this longstanding relationship with Olinger and had looked at alternatives. I would suggest that anyone else do the same.
Having to put my brother to rest has to be the most difficult thing that my family has had to do, however Sara helped ease the burden. The set up was absolutely beautiful. The service was beautiful. They went above and beyond everything that we asked for. Thank you Sara and Tom!
