Omaha Outward Bound School is a part of an international educational movement dedicated to the idea that people are capable of far more than they know. Originally designed by educator Kurt Hahn in 1941 to prepare young sailors on British merchant ships during WWII, providing the leadership skills necessary to survive at sea. Outward Bound has since founded over 40 schools in 32 countries, and has become the premier adventure-based education program in the world.
With schools in spectacular wilderness settings, as well as in bustling urban communities, Outward Bound serves a diverse student population, while delivering courses with consistently high standards of learning, safety, and results.
In 2009, Omaha Outward Bound School was created to bring high-quality, experiential education programs to the Midwest in an urban setting. Based on a curriculum focused on developing high quality leaders, we serve participants through school-based programs, one day challenge course programs, and front country and urban expeditions. In addition to youth-serving programs, Omaha Outward Bound School provides programs focused on corporate team building and educator training.
