Open Hand Kempo of Hillsboro

My 4 1/2 year old son loves going to Open Hand Kempo. The instructors, Mrs. Joanne and Mr. Uriel, are fantastic teachers. They have mastered the art of discipline and leniency. They implement a good mixture of seriousness and silliness, which in my opinion is very important for a 4 year old. They keep the kids engaged for a 45 minute lesson and that's nothing to laugh at! : My son is well on his way to moving up in rank but more importantly is learning to follow precise directions. The instructors teach a "Listen, Think, Do" method which is applicable in many every day situations. They also teach some self defense in "stranger danger" situations. My son is learning how to react when inappropriately approached by a stranger, you can't put a price tag on that lesson!! I highly recommend checking them out- but only if you want your child to become more confident, more self aware and better focused! :

I have known and been taught by Mrs. Joanne and Mr. Uriel for several years now and have had nothing but good experiences! They are both excellent martial artists and teachers. More importantly to me however is that they are both good people who care about what they are doing. They take the time to get to know their students and give each student individual attention. You are not just run through a cookie cutter assembly line type training. They give this respect to all their students regardless of age or rank. I highly recommend Open Hand Kempo of Hillsboro!
