My kid and I went yesterday cause it only opens Wednesdays and Saturdays. It was really nice, big trains to see in and out. Don’t miss the opportunity to chat with the friendly staff, they are all volunteers. If you have little kids go to the gift shop, they have many souvenirs about trains and a nice little train track game available for kids to play. Sign the visits book and leave a donation.
I have lived here my whole life myself and kiddos went and ate lunch there. It has tables ect. It is so cool!Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Oregon Coast Historic Railway is full of railroad memorabilia, railroad parts, a couple of engines and a couple cabooses. Entry is by suggested donation and volunteers are on hand to share their knowledge. If you are a train lover this stop is well worth an hour or so of your time.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Ran by volunteers and members it is a snapshot of the rail road's impact on the logging industry. A few caterpillar dozers : D2 and a big boy D.8. that I swear can run with some time and love. The diorama located in the gift shop was a near way to show the kiddos how this equipment may have been used.
Let's be honest it's not your typical museum but it's a great place to see old trains up close and get to see up in em. The volunteers are super nice, friendly, and helpful! Check this place out and leave a donation.
This is such an amazing collection of trains.
Awesome place to go you can even touch certain trains and Bells for your kids to ring also go inside that trange only when there steps to go up to the train and take a look inside and see how they did it back in the old days also check out the gift or very very good prices on their souvenirs and check out the back that's where all the goodies are from back in the day enjoy
It was closed when visiting but well worth a pit stop if driving by. All pictures taken from outside!
Our family was traveling through the Coos Bay area and stopped in. My children 8,6,3 as well as my husband and I, loved this little museum! Not often you get to actually go inside train cars and see throughout. Free, donation is accepted and it’s a great way to spend an hour or two.
My son and my two grandsons visited the Historic Railway Museum here in Coos Bay. Although I live in the area, I had never been before. It is fully staffed by some of the most amazing volunteers, and the boys absolutely loved it. It is completely open and visitors can climb all over everything there. They got to see what old Passenger cars look like and go through the engines when the drivers used to be. There were also lots of artifacts having to do with railroads, and the museum itself is full of historical information, photos, and of course plenty of souvenirs that can be purchased by tourist. I highly recommend this place.
