I was so exited to have some Japanese food during quarantine, but these are super lousy. $68 of food? $12 for 8 pieces of that? I put an egg for size comparison, just to show you how tiny their sushi was. They don’t really taste fresh either, the salmon and the rice taste like they are overnight. We also ordered the soft shell crab, it was crunchy but the flour was so thick that it over powered the crab, all you tasted was fried flour
First time came here today, the owner was pretty chill. respected that I don't eat crab meet. I took the Lion King to go but I ended up finishing it while driving on the way home it was that good.
I got the beef ramen, and it tasted horrible. The soup was alright, but everything else was bad. My stomach hurt right afterwards… It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had yet! Don’t go to this restaurant unless you want to feel lifeless for hours. The reviews are left mostly by people who don’t know the culture, which makes them misleading.
Great service. It seemed to be the owner himself waiting on us. He suggested we try the pickled carrots which I thought were just a garnish and they were awesome. Small space but comfortable. We ate the godzolla roll, which had nearly every type of fish in it. We didn't realize it was fried on the outside and we're at first disappointed but it was amazing! Had lots of interesting flavors. The only thing missing was alcohol and some background music of some sort, as it was weirdly quiet in the place. Will definitely return.
You would have never guessed a place like this would exist in graveyard Colma but I was pleasantly surprised by everything! First off, don't judge a book by its cover. Yes, I would rename the restaurant because oriental kitchen just sounds archaic plus I feel like it's misleading when they serve mostly Japanese food. The food was surprisingly splendid! The miso soup tasted different in a good way than any other place I have been to before. Anything you ordered, the portions were massive and almost a little too much for me to finish. Good thing I like to take home leftovers! They also have a food challenge which is always fun with friends. And I think my favorite thing about this place are their $1 deals! Everyday is a new day for new deals and it is just so cheap and reasonable you can't not get it. The owners are great people and are incredibly nice. They will make accommodations if needed and their heart is in the right place.
Other then the fact that this place is small, it shouldnt hold u back by any means. This place is legit. Food is great, service is efficient and pleasant. Prices are very reasonable for Japanese food. We come here all the time. They even have a food challenge! Highly recommend.
Excellent, reasonably-priced food in an intimate setting. Very friendly staff. Try the honeydew smoothie. Also, they'll deep-fry any roll on the menu for $1 extra. Cheap lunch specials and several "eat it all and it's free" challenge menu items. The 2 lb OK Godzilla works out to 9 rolls for $25, good for sharing, too.
I used to come here in high school because it's super cheap but I went today and all the rolls I got were not fresh. I heard him use the microwave and the quality just isn't the same anymore. I probably won't be back
I use to go to this spot alot as a kid and teen and believe me when I say the food WAS delicious. After a few years of not going I went today and was HIGHLY disappointed. Waited an hour to get the food, portions are tiny, and it was NOT worth the wait at all. Definetly wasn't fresh, rice tasted old and they use a MICROWAVE to heat things up. Overall I can say I wouldn't ever come back.
Don't be fooled by the name, this place is great! The sushi was tasty, well priced and had good portions. The ramen was large and delicious. The chef possibly the owner was incredibly kind, interesting and funny. I'm so stoked I found a good ramen/sushi place in my neighborhood. Definitely give it a shot!
