The OZSO K9 Unit is made up of two pure-bred, short-haired German Shepherds: K9 Wasko (pronounced Vas-ko), who is accompanied by Handler Deputy Brad Arndt; and K9 Rev, who is accompanied by Handler Deputy Becky Swanson.
Ever since my birth, I was trained and prepared for my life as a police dog. I was flown to the United States in January of 2015, where I started my training at the Steinig Tal Kennels in Campbellsport, WI. As a young and very energetic pup, I still had a lot to learn about how to work and listen to my new handler’s commands. My handler also had to learn to speak my language (German) in order to communicate with me.
I graduated from the academy in May 2015, where I was sworn in with the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office by Sheriff Johnson. My fellow graduates and alumni from Steinig Tal Kennels serve with a huge variety of Law Enforcement agencies throughout the country at the Federal, State and Local levels. We work for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Secret Service (USSS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), all branches of the United States Military and, of course, local Sheriff and Police Departments.
I am expertly trained in suspect apprehension, drug searches, and missing persons tracking. I love living in Ozaukee County and I am proud to make this a better place to live every minute of every hour of every day!
