Dr. Monzon founded Pain Management Specialists of North FL, PA in 1998. He received his medical degree from UCE, School of Medicine in the Dominican Republic with honors. He completed a four-year residency in General Surgery as Chief Resident at Jersey City Medical Center in NJ, and an Anesthesiology residency at the distinguished Seton Hall/St Joseph Hospital in NJ where he also served as a Chief Resident with a concentration in Thoracic Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He moved to Palatka in 1990 and co-founded the first pain clinic in Putnam County at Putnam Community Hospital where he served as the Chief of Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
In 1998, he founded the first freestanding Pain Clinic in St Johns County. Dr. Monzon is a pioneer of interventional pain medicine who was one of few pain doctors to introduce Implantable technology for pain management in our area. His excellent reputation makes him a preferred provider for minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of chronic, acute and cancer pain disorders. He offers numerous treatment options with a high success rate such as spinal cord stimulators implants, radiofrequency ablation and epidural injections. One of his special interests is in Regenerative Cell Therapy – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Dr. Monzon performs most of his procedures using MSK Musculoskeletal ultrasound and/or Fluoroscopy guidance for precise and effective results. His Surgi-suite is equipped with innovative and state-of-the-technology.
Dr. Monzon is Diplomate for the American Academy of Pain Management. He was the past President of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine where he is presently a board member and Instructor. He is also a Delegate for the Florida Medical Association and a member in good standing for the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Academy of Pain Management, Florida Medical Association, American Academy of Interventional Pain Physicians, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
