Process has gone smoothly. Will update in a couple months. Installers did a nice job. Sales team has been easy to work with. Just need the pwr company to switch the meter.
Palmetto starts out strong, they made the initial process super simple and got the panels installed on our house in a fairly timely manner... Not fast, but not slow - average ~5 months. However, the install didn't pass inspection and working with Palmetto to get a tech out to fix it took months upon months and REPEATED e-mails, calls, and chats. In fact, our complaints were ignored for months until we eventually had to get the government arm involved in our case Illinois Shines to give them a firm "fix this or we pull your permit to install in our state" threat. Eventually we got a tech out, and they "fixed the issue". But we failed AGAIN! We were back at step one fighting with Palmetto to send a tech to fix their install. Once again we had to include Illinois Shines to get any movement on the project. The whole project took well over a year to get solar on our house. More issues happened with the accounting department after all was said and done, however in the interest of time I'll save you the headache reading about it. Bottom line, their service is absolute trash. If you're lucky enough to get a good install the first time you might have better luck than we did. Otherwise, feel free to roll the dice.
Don't let their great salespeople Lure you into purchasing from this company. That's about the best thing they have going for them. Their customer service team is also very professional however they have no power whatsoever to make anything happen. They'll leave messages with their technicians and update your account but that's about the only thing they can do. It's been over a month now since we received a power outage alert and have spent multiple times and hours with their service technicians troubleshooting over the phone to finally learn the issue is a fuse that needs to be replaced and a technician will be contacting us to schedule an appointment. Sounds pretty simple. We signed a DocuSign agreement that we'd pay $350 for a service technician to schedule an appointment, however it's been crickets for weeks. Ryan is apparently a service technician support, who sent an email and to reach out to him with any questions or updates on our case. He doesn't respond to emails and won't provide a contact number to reach him obviously. So we're currently paying Duke Energy through the roof for electricity, when we've only been paying a total of $83/mo for three years for electricity. I would NEVER recommend this company. They will sell you down the river on day one. A river you believe will be an easy stream. There's nothing easy about working with this company after you sign your purchase contract. There are many reputable and reliable choices for Solar energy today, so please unlike me, read any companies reviews before purchasing. Had we looked at Palmetto's reviews prior to purchasing, we'd have gone with a different company. Buyer Beware!
Overall a pretty decent experience. It took quite a while longer than I expected. They predict about 5 months until your system is running. Ours was 8 months to finish and then another 6 weeks to get the power company to finish all their approvals. I also felt like I was chasing Palmetto several times for updates and to keep progress going. All that said though, the contractors they hired were all great, no complaints there. I'm awaiting our first power bill with solar installed but just tracking the usage the savings should pay for themselves completely. So, while the experience wasn't great, it's not like I'd paid them yet and the final results are great.
This company has 0 customer support. Been waiting for a week to get a call from a supervisor, mind you the supervisor is several cubicles down from the phone rep. This company is a scam and down right predatory. Supervisor stated through a rep that she is too busy to call back customers. Pretty much a "F YOU, im busy" response. Meanwhile I'm losing money everyday, but that's not their problem they got paid already, nothing else matters. Getting solar panels from this company has been one of my worst decisions. From start until now has been nothing but lies and run arounds. Have done nothing to help resolve my issue. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANY!
We spent almost 60k for this system and our roof replacement. It has worked for all of about a year and a half. Now our inverter is out. Customer service was quick to identify and email me letting me know there was a critical fault, but it has been crickets since then. No response from SOLAR EDGE which is apparently the warranty company, I say apparently because you cannot contact them directly you have to go through Palmetto, and they have no information on my system or status of the new inverter and they refuse to give me a number or contact information for the warranty company. We have not had any solar production for the entire month of August now. I have been on hold currently with palmetto for 30 minutes. So they’re obviously swamped with unhappy customers like me. Do not purchase from this company unless you enjoy getting screwed.
Kyle kept us informed each step of the way. It is a process and it takes a while to get all the approvals and everything needed for installation. When they installed the panels the workers were friendly and efficient. They did it all in one day. And they cleaned up their mess when they were done. They have been up and running for about 6 weeks and so far so good. No problems and everything seems to be working well. Hopefully that will continue for many many years to come. Have not gotten any bills from AEP or from Palmetto yet.
They are fine when it comes to doing the installation of solar panels, however if there is any maintenance to be done afterwards they will say you'll get a follow up call in 2 to 3 days but that never happens. I had hail damage to my roof so the solar panels needed to be removed so a new roof could be installed. It has been about 4 months now and I still don't have any resolution on this. I've called numerous times about this, every time I was told they'd call me back, and that has never happened. If you ask to talk to a supervisor they are always in a meeting and won't respond. Unfortunately I can't go with another contractor because the warranty would be void. I wish I never got involved with this company.
Palmetto Solar? I can’t believe I trusted these people. Did you know that a palmetto bug is actually just a cockroach???!!! That’s all this company is. A bunch of cockroaches who scam you into believing they will eliminate your electric bill. I bought a $92,000 system with batteries and was promised to get $27,600 in federal tax credits. You know what I got? A cockroach wev of lies and deceit all around. The put a lien on my house and now I’m about to be homeless while I await litigation with these cockroach’s.
This solar company had sales people who all the want is to sign up people with a bunch of lies and on top of that they are $15,000 dollars more expensive then the other companies, the sales man said he was just checking to see if I was approved with a soft credit pull when actually I was being put in to a contract for 25 years when I clearly said I was not ready because I needed to do my homework and shop around. The sales rep. Lie multiple times. Be very careful and due your homework and shop around at least 3 different companies. It was a disaster experience with this company. I regret talking to this people.
