I was exited to take my girl to the old western town but unfortunately it’s gone. All their is left is the church and Train stop. I’m sure this may be a bit disappointing to all artists. It’s still a great place to run, ride your bike or go horse bike riding. Hope this is helpful to my creators.
Such a beautiful and serene place to visit. We hiked the Paramount Ranch Trailhead loop. And it was spectacular! The views of this place were breathtaking. We really enjoyed our hike. This trail I would rate as moderate because you do encounter a few steep hills and let me tell you, it's a work out! I loved it, you do break a sweat. So if you enjoy a challenge and appreciate the views, this is the place for you!
I ran my second 50K race on this Paramount race course. Beautiful course and fun run. I finished in 6 hours and 20 minutes...12 minute pace. I'll do better next time. Beautiful Ranch. I look forward to filming hear soon.
A lot of the stage sets have burned down in fires over the year so not much is left. However, the church shown on Westworld is still here. The church is at the entrance so you really don't have to venture much at all. There are some okay trails here, but they don't really end in any good views or landmarks and are more loops. So, it was a bit underwhelming for me. There may be possible gems that I'm unaware of tho... Nonetheless, it's good if you need to get out and want something simple.
I used to go hiking here. It was also an interesting place to take my groups on adventures. It was one of the few places around LA where visitors could experience a western town! My first time returning since the COVID-19 crisis, I was somewhat disappointed. The western town buildings were burned and taken down after the 2018 Woolsey Fire. All that remains is the depot, though now includes an old western style church. The surrounding trails were still passable, tho much of the land was ruined, void of the unique vegetation that made it good for wilderness hikes. The little Media Creek Trail, just beyond the parking lot and sand pit, is still intact! Also, the horse riding and rental services are still in action, an important part of the experience, when the physical town is gone! There’s a more modern, tho rustic County Fire station building next to the parking lot area. The end closest to the parking lot has restrooms. There’s picnic tables and trash containers located by that end as well.
Interesting place but such a shame there wasn't more to look at. I'm told there are lots of paths for walking.
It's very peaceful and quiet. Lots of wildlife, a few hiking trails the "Rattlesnake Dog Training Course" banner 2 miles down the road deters me from hiking these trails. I have driven past this place on my daily commute, from September 2016 to February 2019, but didn't stop once. I believe there was once a town here, but it's gone, burned in the Woolsey Fire, 2018. Beautiful scenery, and the weather is usually fantastic. Many mornings, this area is covered in 'marine layer' from the Pacific Ocean. Also, one of the coolest sections of Mulholland Highway is just around the bend. Turn right out of the park, then left at the stop sign. Hold on tight!
The church is still standing. The Western Town is still rubble. It's been over a year after the fire, but it hasn't been cleaned up. You can hike and bike. Nice bathrooms are available. We walked into the rangers office to ask questions about the town, but no one was at the desk. Maps of the area and nearby parks were available, so we took some. I give them 5 stars because of the location, views and nature.
UNFORTUNATELY THIS PLACE HAS BEEN TOTALLY BURNT TO THE GROUND. SUCH A SHAME. Great place to wander around free of charge! They have used this place to film loads of films and tv programs including Westworld
We attend the Topanga Banjo and Fiddle Contest here and it is a wonderful location for it. Sadly most of the buildings burned down in the Woolsey Fire. The last event we attended there was called the Tailgate Jam and it was a benefit to raise funds to rebuild the structures lost in the fire.
