This page is dedicated to protecting the rights of children living in Liberty Park to walk or ride their bike safely to and from school each day.
The Parents of Liberty Park are committed to keeping all of our children safe each and every day. Recently there has been an extreme rise in the need of a parent safety patrol to protect our children as they are walking and riding bikes to and from school each day. More specifically, drop offs and pick ups have become an issue on several neighborhood streets. Although the HOA and both VHELP and LPMS have sent out warnings to all residents and parents advising them that this is strictly not allowed; this dangerous behavior continues. With the help of the HOA, The Vestavia Hills School Board, The City of Vestavia and the Vestavia Hills Police Department we are working on ways to combat this issue. Please stand up for the safety of all Liberty Park children by refusing to park on the street to drop off or pick up students. Student drop off and pick up is allowed in the carpool lane and the parking lot of each school, the parking lot by the neighborhood swimming pool and the parking lot at the playground. We are also asking that you report violations to this page so that we can keep the authorities aware of those who refuse to follow this simple safety rule. Feel free to document your encounters with these people but be very cautious. One resident attempting to patrol her street has very nearly been hit on two occasions by an erratic driver. Should you need assistance protecting your street, please call the Vestavia Hills Police Department.
