DO NOT MOVE HERE! Lived here for two years and due to personal reasons couldn’t move until now. The front office if a joke, will respond with an attitude and only greet you when you move in and work extra hard to avoid interacting with tenants. I was told when I first moved in that the building I was moving into was being remodeled/ worked on, stairs were old and damaged, flooding in the back of the building, bugs in the apartments. No one ever started to working on these remodels. Club house was closed for over a year, gym is closed most months, not due to Covid but because of remodels* Ruth and Taylor will try you!! The only good thing about this complex is the proximity to businesses. The complex itself is old, worn down and over priced. If you can afford to live here go ahead and rent a small house because THIS WAS NOT IT!!!
The communication of the staff is a complete failure. They are slow to get anything fixed. The A/C leaked twice while me and my wife lived there and they would not consider it an emergency when in the middle of summer and temperatures over 90 degrees. Multiple maintenance issues took months if not over a year to fix because they would always contract it out even if it was a cheap $5 cover that can be found at any home improvement store. At this point none of there maintainers are even hired by them the last one left about 2 months ago 1 month before we moved out.
It’s unfortunate that I have to leave a negative review for these apartments but at this point I’d rather help people whom are looking to lease an apartment out then not too. If you are looking to rent/lease in this area AVOID these apartments at all costs. Not only are the units you move into not READY. But the amenities aren’t even usable!!! Moved here because the property itself is nice, there’s trees everywhere and there is a beautiful pond. Something else that attracted me was the GYM WHICH WE CANNOT EVEN USE. Management was rude from the beginning I Can rant and take up another paragraph on the ladies in the front but I’ll leave it at this. They also promised us a unit then changed it after we had already signed our lease to a BASEMENT UNIT!!!!! I can go on and on about how bad these apartments are but I’ll leave it to you to read all the negative reviews and make your decision based on that. Do not move here !!!!
Lived here almost a year. In that time I’ve had to call maintenance six times for the same issues since we moved in. For the first half of the year they didn’t have maintenance at all because they can’t pay their people a livable wage. The “amenities” are never open and even though policy states emails are to be sent out 24 hours in advance; you never get one. The office staff but for a couple people are rude and dismissive. The buildings themselves are in constant disrepair due to lack of maintenance. Huge holes patched with rough plaster painters tape under paint; the cosmetic issues with the apartments are just as bad as the functional issues. The rent just keeps rising WHEN NOTHING is being done to improve the actual living areas. Don’t move here if you value your sanity.
I waited a few months to post a review because I wanted it to be as thorough & fair as possible. I spent a LOT of time thinking about whether or not to leave a review, what to say, etc & hopefully this will be helpful to others. I moved here site unseen from Colorado. I chose this apartment complex because of the floor plan with the sun room, which I absolutely love. The PROS: 1. FLOOR PLAN. Of all my apartment hunting, there was nothing else that offered both a sun room AND a balcony. 2. STAFF. We absolutely ADORE Ruth, Alicia and Taylor, and my review should NOT be taken to mean that any of them has done anything wrong. So please read the review with that in mind. 3. LOCATION. The location seems to be good. Granted, I'm new to NC, but we seem to be relatively close to everything. The CONS: 1. SAFETY. The cops and even the forensics unit have been here far too many times already. Neighbors with guns being put to each other's heads, car thefts, etc. I bought a Ring doorbell AND security camera. 2. MAINTENANCE. Unfortunately, maintenance here is understaffed, so nothing gets done unless you pester. When we moved into our apartment, we had about 20 things that needed to be worked on, to include no running water in one sink, leaks, and light switches not working. Some have not yet been corrected. About a month ago we learned our shower was leaking into the neighbor's apt below us. Maintenance came, said they'd return the next day to fix it, asking that we refrain from using that shower for now. After a month of no maintenance returning & not being able to use that shower, we finally had to go to the office to complain. 3. NOTHING WORKS. They advertise a game room, but you can't get in. The key doesn't open it, and from what we can see there is only a foosball table in it anyway. There are 2 doors to the gym, and only one works with the key. The car wash hose and vacuum both do not work. My husband and I literally just shake our heads and laugh whenever we find something else that isn't working/isn't right. 4. COMMUNITY WIFI/CABLE. I don't like this "feature." It has been a royal pain to get my electronics hooked up to the wifi and I'm not technologically dumb. I've spent hours on the phone with Spectrum. I work from home, so I need all of my devices working. I wish I had more control over my wifi. 5. FLOODING. When it rains, it floods. Just at the bottom of the steps to our apt, there is no way to avoid the flooded area. So if you're coming home from somewhere else and don't have rainboots on, you WILL destroy your shoes. 6. WEED. Lots of neighbors here smoke a LOT of weed, and it wafts up into our apt, so strong you'd think we were the ones smoking it. I'm not at all against others smoking it, but its quite embarrassing when people visit and our apt REEKS of weed. 7. LAUNDRY. There are no washers/dryers in the apts, and they don't have laundry facilities on site. We immediately bought a washer & dryer, but some people don't have that option, so it is important to know. We had no idea. You'd think if there weren't any provided, that they'd at least have a laundry room. No laundry facilities at ALL. Be prepared to carry your laundry to a public laundromat. 8. SUPER SQUEAKY TUBS. The tubs are some kind of plastic material, and they creak and squeak like mad when you walk in them. They and the toilets were not cleaned well when we moved in, and are now so yellowed with stains we can't do anything to fix it. 9. DIRTY WINDOWS. And I mean, dirty on the INSIDE between the two panes, where you can't get to. We have one in particular in the sun room that you can't even see out of. It's awful.
Do not pick this residence, save yourself and pick any other place. Was essentially extorted for upwards of $900 during my time there. On my day of arrival, the receptionist called and let me know I should call Duke energy to turn on the power for my apartment. I did this in the morning while finishing my road trip to Greensboro. The Duke Energy rep ensured me that I would be able to move into the apartment, but when I arrived at The Park @ Oak Ridge, the receptionist was happy to tell me I was not able to move into my apartment. So after 4-5 days of driving across the country with my belongings, the receptionist smiled and said I'd have to stay at a hotel in the city rather than my overpriced apartment. The next morning I returned and was finally allowed into my lovely new apartment. Upon entrance I found that the apartment had various types of damage all around. Walls are so thin, it is appalling what you can hear from your neighbors. The dishwashers are completely non-functional, and there are no washing or drying machines not in the apartment, nor on the apartment complex property. Every window in the apartment is completely opaque due to decades of filth building up. inside, outside, both sides. Rent changes sporadically every month and I can't stress how bad the management at this place is. Please find an apartment elsewhere, you'll thank yourself for doing it.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I could write a whole entire page on why you should not move here but just read the newest reviews it tells you everything. This apartment complex does not care about the tenants. I have been here for 8 months and since the day I’ve moved in there has been problems non stop. The maintenance here is the worst thing I’ve experienced in an apartment. DO NOT LOOK OVER ALL OF THE ONE STAR REVIEWS. WERE TRYING TO HELP OTHERS NOT BE IN THE POSITION WERE IN.
We were moving in to a different unit initially, but 2 days before our move in date we were told that our unit was not going to be ready, if this is true, we do not know. We were then sent to another unit that is in the basement which was the first thing we didn't want when we applied for the unit we actually WANTED and signed a lease for. The unit we moved into was not the unit we wanted and it was not ready either, given that one of the restrooms could not be used because it leaked water. Now it is 4 of us, all in the lease, and 4 females for one restroom is just crazy! The two people we have had contact with in the front office have been passive aggressive in several occasions with no reasoning behind it. Maybe it is racism because we are hispanic, but we rather not make that accusation because it is severe in our personal opinions. We still have not received a key to use the gym, and it has been a week since we moved in, we should have access to that amenity already because we are paying full rent and we have paid the deposit and every fee we were charged. We should have access to everything promised in the website whenever one applies for the units. Over all, and so far, I dont want to get ahead of myself and get worse issues later the apartments are a good place to live in, but the issues we have faced since move in are things that did not meet our expectations and have made us change our perspective on these apartments. The key is management, bad management results in issues like these.
If I could give them zero stars I absolutely would. I usually do not leave reviews, because I understand that things happen. But the treatment that I’ve been receiving from this apartment complex is above and beyond abysmal. The office manager Ruth is a problem. She does not keep her word, she has an attitude problem, and she lies. Numerous reviews for this apartment community state the same; all of us cannot be lying. I have had to submit numerous work orders since May for the same issue - my bathroom toilet rocks, and it still has not been fixed. I called the office - no one answers, I go by the office, before closing and the staff has already left early for the day. I call and speak with a call center agent and he informs me that Ruth has already spoken to me - a total lie. Plus, they are vindictive. I had a similar situation involving the dishwasher in my unit, I kept submitting work orders for at least 5 MONTHS asking for it to be fixed. When they weren’t blaming me, claiming that I obviously didn’t know how to use a dishwasher correctly, they said that a dial was broken so then they “fixed” that. I informed them that still not working. More weeks go by, and by the time they finally did fix it, they claimed that it was my fault and a spoon melted in the machine causing damages, and attached a bill to my account. Totally ridiculous and vindictive. Claiming they had a photo of said spoon that “broke” the machine. The spoon in the photo was completely intact. But didn’t it melt?? Plus, since when is dishwater hot enough to melt metal?? I feel they will pull the same stunt regarding the toilet. I requested a transfer was shown the new unit I would be moving to; as the date approached for me to move I call to inquire about getting the keys/payments needed because I hadn’t received any correspondence and there is NO RECORD OF MY TRANSFER REQUEST!! The unit I was promised has been leased to someone else and I had to then wait for another. These people are taking advantage of the fact that so many people simply cannot afford to up and move somewhere else. Not to mention I still don’t have a key card to the fitness room. They keep saying that ADP hasn’t come by to fix their machine. It’s been well over a month. The basketball court and tennis court are filled with cracks and overgrown grass. Half the lights around the complex don't work. But they are steadily raising the rent. Trust me if I could afford to move someplace else I would have by now. Don’t waste your time, don’t waste your money, don’t sacrifice your self-respect, or your dignity by living somewhere where the people that work here treat you like anything that you ask is a burden to them. While the aesthetics and the atmosphere of the entire area may be beautiful this apartment community and its staff are terrible.
Ms. Taylor and Ms. Ruth are amazing. They answered all of my questions and made the move in process super easy. I love the community and I love my new apartment!!!
