The food was excellent — hats off to the chef/kitchen. My husband thought the salmon was the best he’d EVER had. Flavorful, cooked correctly, delicious. The service was not what we expected for this nice of a place; they appeared to be understaffed. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us, although several wait staff passed us in the entryway. Then a man, who turned out to be our waiter, asked us to wait until they went to clean off a table. After my husband’s soup, I asked what the small bowl of oil and herbs was for on the table. Waiter replied “for the bread,” and then realized he had not brought us any. It was delicious too, but was brought to the table after we had begun our entrees. Waiter also did not check regularly to replenish drinks. Sometimes it is the little things.
Dinner and wine pairing was excellent. Seemed just a tad understaffed for diner service but the ambiance made up for it. Parker House is perched right on the river with a waterfall just steps away.
We were visiting from Rhode Island and had planned to eat at Simon Pearce but they were all booked up. So we walked across the parking area to the Parker House restaurant. We were a party of two without a reservation, showing up around dinnertime. All of their tables were already reserved too but they managed to squeeze us in at a small table in the bar area. We ended up having a wonderful evening! The cocktails, service, and food were all amazing. I think we spent at least three hours there - at one point our server kindly told us "the table's yours for the night so don't rush". After dinner we weren't sure what drink we wanted and the bartender Adam came over to us personally to have us try a drink before we ordered; once we gave him feedback he immediately went back to the bar and brought us just what we wanted. Next time we're in town we won't even try to go to Simon Pearce - we'll just go back to Parker House!
Spent this past weekend there and had a wonderful time with my GF. Adam is a great host with his British charm and was very informative to questions we had. Food at the Inn was superb and our room was clean and comfy. Thanks for a great stay! Will come back soon for some Ski time for sure!
We enjoyed our stay here. It's a charming rustic inn w/classical elegance of design. The inn overlooks the river and is walking distance to great shops and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and clean w/all amenities provided. The inn is also pet friendly, which we loved! We brought our dog and she was well liked :- Adam, the Inn's proprietor takes hospitality to another level. And the staff, including his daughter were simply wonderful. We, including our dog, Bella, were always met w/a warm greeting. Wonderful breakfast and great brandy! The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because my husband has MS although you can't tell and we had to climb 2 sets of stairs. However, we will indeed be back but on the 2nd floor and absolutely reccomend the inn for a wonderful stay in Quechee! Thank you Adam! Merry Christmas, Aileen & Morgan
Best risotto I've ever had. Staff were very accomidating with my gluten allergy.
The ambience is very warm and cozy. The staff were extremely freindly, professional, and very knowledgeable of wine selections. The food was amazing! I woke up the next day with the delicious taste of a goat cheese tart on my ongue and it has me craving more of it app day! Thank you for a great location for a lovely date!
Really lovely inn with comfortable, cozy rooms with a nice view of the river. What made it really stand out was the exceptional service we received. The breakfast was a nice selection of eggs, fruit, bacon and a pancake. Very disappointed we didn't have time to stay for dinner, it looked amazing. Highly recommend.
Just wrapped up a wonderful three-night midweek stay at the Parker House. It had been a couple of years since my last visit, and owners Adam and Alex have made some thoughful improvements since. My room was bright and comfortable, with robust air conditioning and wifi, and lots of places to unwind. The full breakfast and strong coffee was delicious, and there's lots to do in the area .... but dinner is where the Parker House really shines. Dinner Wednesday began with a quick stroll through the formal[ish] Victorian dining room, to the lively, eclectic back bar area, where Adam, owner/barman, offered a warm, lively greeting - as he did for every guest. Two perfect martinis later, my dinner companion arrived, and we were seated on the charming back porch which faces the Ottauquechee River. Chef Alex's menu is full of imaginative twists on French classics, with an emphasis on [very] local ingredients - "farm to fork" before someone dreamed up that particular marketing gimmick. We started with the mussels Provençal, followed by the beet and pear salad, both bursting with flavor and freshness. My nephew raved about the osso bucco, and I tore into the seared salmon. The service team was wonderful - attentive but not overbearing - and Adam made some great wine recommendations from the PHI's very extensive list, which is full of small vineyard gems at every price point. After dinner, we retired to the bar and enjoyed an hour of conversation - over a bottle of extraordinary burgundy - with a handful of guests and locals. A great way to spend a midweek, sultry summer evening in Vermont. This was the second of my three meals at the Parker House this week, the others just as imaginative and memorable. The Inn is warm, authentic, timeless, and worldly - exuding the personality of its wonderful owners - and miles from the tired faux barn/shabby chic/soulless corporate vibe that's so prevalent in New England towns that depend on tourism.
AMAZING FOOD!! I was very pleased when I sat down to eat. The music is very welcoming and the scenery is too. My favorite food was the Bacon Burger! If you wanna have a family dinner, date night or something else, COME HEAR!
