It's amazing seeing how stellar Parker Library has become since I was a kid. I love how hands on the kid area is. It's such a relief to have a place full of books and fun toys/activities for my kids. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a lot of events and opportunities to form friendships with people who have similar interests. The library is one of the shining stars of Douglas County.
For the most part, this building is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The children's area is a favorite and the staff are always very friendly and accommodating. My kiddo loves meeting up with her friends here and LOVED the summer camps!
It’s pretty loud so the only way that it’s a good study spot is if you book a room. It’s super easy, a bunch are usually free and they make the experience 10,000x better. The selection of books is great and overall is a very nice part of Parker :
It's always great to visit this library! They have a lot of conference rooms for meetings of all kinds and I've even found books there that I can't find anywhere else! Overall, it's very beautiful, well-kept and organized. This is one place that I visit regularly.
The library is nice but people treat the library like a coffee shop. People have meetings and loud conversations that can be heard even through noise cancelling headphones. Kids run around the library like it is a playground.
Nothing against the staff, ever. Audiobook selection is legendary! They are always awesome. But the place is more kid than adult friendly at times and it is often overrun with the small. That will likely only bother people like me who want to study or be able to walk through unimpeded, lol. Luckily the upstairs is usually better.
My kids love coming here!! The main level is very kid friendly. I love how much emphasis the staff puts into encouraging a love for books with the next generation. Mature books, quiet rooms, etc are upstairs. Always very quiet and calm as you would expect from a “typical” library. Best of both worlds
Nice ambience, Books Categorized nicely, very helpful frontdesk services, more planned kids activities to spend enough times by their own interests.
We had our daughter’s 4th here and Frank was the BEST HOST EVER! The place was decorated beautifully, he had back to back activities for them and he was so engaging. Frank and his volunteers made our daughter’s birthday party not only amazing but the talk of her friends parents. We couldn’t have picked a better venue, better volunteers or a better host. We can’t thank them enough and would highly recommend the library for a birthday party!
I love Douglas County libraries. I truly do, but the bigger locations like Parker and Highlands Ranch....story time music and sound systems are just way too loud! They are not sensory or Neurodivergent child friendly nor is the decibel level even safe for kids! I took my decibel reader there and wow. I had to ask them to turn down the volume. Strongly recommend headphones for any little ones attending or they desperately need to lower the volume. It's not a super large space and it's sound proof which is great but....You don't need to be blasting music go one year olds that loud ! The library staff really need to be educated on sensory needs and safe volume levels so all children and adults can participate.
