Parker PlayTown is an adorable space for children to be active, socialize, use their imagination and be creative in so many ways. The space is much larger than it appears from outside, and the owners have really outdone themselves in the design of this little "town" with: -a farm -big red barn complete with stick ponies -hair salon -construction zone -fire house with pole to slide down -diner -fishing pond -awesome climbing structure -activity room for sensory type activities -amazing BEAM video game that's projected onto the floor and controlled by kids stepping on the images My 4 year old, 13 year old and 14 year old have all enjoyed the kid-friendly environment and activities.
We came for my sons 3rd birthday, because he loves pretend play and I was excited to find we have somewhere in town to go that has that kind of stuff. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by who I assume is the owner and she was extremely friendly. My son really enjoyed the cafe, grocery store and the interactive screen they had on the floor. The owners did a fantastic job creating little interactive scenes for kids to play. Why I only gave 4 stars is because a The floor was filthy. I have a 10 month old who wanted to crawl around and I had a hard time letting him because it was way dirty. I assume it’s because this time of year there is salt on the side walks and it gets on shoes then taken inside. I understand floors just get dirty this time of year. It just really surprised me. I wish just they had a crawlers section for crawling babies. I had my 10 month old with me and there wasn’t a whole lot for him to do. I wish they had a separate section for like 1 and under. b I was concerned with safety in a few sections. Maybe I’m just an over protective mama with a 3 year old that is accident prone. In a few sections I didn’t dare let my 3 year old play without me being right there next to him. By the fishing pond they have built a dock around it and there was a nail sticking out that I had to tap in with my foot. In the fire house they have a fireman pole that kids could slide down but it’s definitely not for toddlers. The plat form to get to the pole is about 4-5 feet high without any padding on the bottom. I wouldn’t let my 3 year old up there without any help. In the foam pit the foam pit is about 1 inch cubes. This is another reason why I couldn’t have my 10 month old crawl around. The foam cubes seemed like a chocking hazard and I was surprised they could be that small. On the end of the slide it’s just raw wood and I wish they had some sort of cap on the end or had the corners sanded down so there wasn’t any edges. c When my son was playing in the cafe, we were building tall sandwiches with the pretend food then they would get tall and tip over and if push the food back into the container so it wouldn’t go all over the floor. Well what I would assume is the owners 6 or 7 year old daughter came in and started playing with us. That was 100% fine except for them we’d tip the sandwich tower over, she’d start throwing the play food all over the floor. After a few times of this, I said it’s time to stop because it was getting out of control. I started picking up some of the play food and my son started pretending to cook. The little girl kept throwing the food and some hit my little boy in the face. I told her to please stop. She told me no she wanted to make a mess and started kicking the food all over. I then told my little boy it was time to go and he needed to help clean up the food. The little girl then said, “NO! I want to make a mess, and you clean it up!” I just sat there in disbelief and then replied, “um.. no.. this is your mess and you need to help clean it up too.” She then started dumping out all the bins of food while looking at me while doing it. I was frustrated and grabbed my boys and headed over to the doctors office to play. The little girl then followed us over there and started banging on the outside of the play house with a toy and started screaming, “IM GOING TO BREAK DOWN YOUR HOUSE!!!” I was just very annoyed at this point so I told my little boys it was time to go. She then stood in front of the door of the play house and told us we could leave. I asked her to move and finally after a few minutes she let us out. I hurried and grabbed our things and headed to the door. Now I was very very frustrated at this point and determined to not return. As we were walking out the owner offered my little boy a prize was a cute paper advent calendar for Christmas and gave me a punch card and punched out 2 holes for my little boys birthday. This really turned around my experience.
My son had the best time there, so cute and so much pretend play not just jungle gyms and bouncy castle which is typical for most "play places"! Definitely will be going back :
