Parkland High School Percussion Ensemble (PHISIPE). We are an indoor percussion ensemble from Allentown, Pennsylvania. We compete in the Mid Atlantic Percussion Society (MAPS) and in the Winter Guard International (WGI).
For those of you not familiar with what exactly an Indoor Percussion Ensemble is:
An indoor percussion ensemble or indoor drumline consists of the marching percussion (also called battery) and front ensemble (also called pit) sections of a marching band or drum corps. Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theater; thus, the activity is often referred to as percussion theater.
The Parkland High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble’s mission is to provide an opportunity for our High School students to learn, perform, and compete in a constantly evolving and challenging activity. The drumlines staff places a high emphasis on education, leadership, and personal responsibility.
The school district and our music boosters graciously provide support, however, the expenses of uniforms, equipment, instructors, competitions, transportation, lodging, etc. are very overwhelming. Our success of our program is deeply dependant on membership fees, fundraising and private donations. With the advancements in the ensemble, the costs to provide a competitive program have increased. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help offset the expenses of the season.
