Dr. Cordel Parris was born in Trinidad and Tobago. At an early age, Dr. Parris moved to New York, New York and finished high school. Through diligence and determination she began her journey at Brooklyn College in New York. Dr. Parris was recruited by Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She returned to New York after acquiring her doctoral degree and entered Albany Medical College where she completed her internship and residency programs.
Her interest in Cardiovascular Disease began when her neighbor suffered a stroke and subsequently died of a heart attack. Dr. Parris attended Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in West Virginia where she completed her Fellowship.
Through the years she found herself in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and eventually founded Parris Cardiovascular Center.
Parris Cardiovascular Center welcomes Dr. Josef Toussaint, MD, MBA, to our cardiovascular practice here in the Mid City Baton Rouge and Denham Springs communities of Louisiana.
Dr. Touissant, a native of NYC, received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, and trained in Internal Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. He spent several years in South Florida receiving his training in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology from the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial hospital, as well as a Masters of Business Administration in Health Sector Management and Policy from the University of Miami School of Business. He then returned to NYC for further sub-specialty training in Endovacular Medicine from Jacobi Medical Center / Montefiore Health System in Bronx, NY. He is excited now to be bringing his specialized healing skills to the residents of Southern Louisiana. Dr. Touissant believes in delivering quality and compassionate patient centered healthcare to all his patients.
