My experience with Dr Steinberg was alarming. First few sessions were fine. One session, my last, he told me I “deserved” my chronic illness pain and “do you believe in karma?” Saying that every wrong doing in my life has a connection to my pain and once I figure it out my pain will subside. I complained to the president, Dr Alexander, who was sincere at first and then has since been dismissive about the incident stating she’s sorry for my dissatisfaction and that Dr Steinberg recalled our session differently. It’s truly upsetting a doctor can say this to a patient and face no consequence for it. Steer clear of this place.
Staff is terrible. They sound soulless and you can feel their distaste for their jobs through the phone. I’m not sure the name of the woman I spoke with but she gave quite possibly the worst greeting I’ve ever heard from an establishment representative. I’ve never heard of waiting for a prescriber to approve my “case” not to mention the verbiage makes it seem as though they are are insinuating basket case since it is mental health after all. The way the representative I spoke with relayed the information also made it very obvious that she was intending to make this call quick. Remember that first impressions are everything.
Therapist Karal was awful. She spent only four sessions with me and on my last one, berated me into tears. She told me I could not have clinical depression because “people with depression don’t act like me.” I’ve been diagnosed with major depression for 11 years and take medication for it currently. She made assumptions about my past and referred to my hazing and bullying in my childhood/teen years as “people just being mean to me” and that it doesn’t make it bullying. She was heartless lacked understanding and made no attempt to understand my backround or PTSD and depression diagnosis. I’ve had other counselors and never experienced such a disregard for a patients traumas. This made me go into crisis and I had to contact another doctor for help. Would not recommend therapist Karal was dismissive and unrelenting in her personal agenda. Found counseling else where where I am more supported.
Practitioners are great. Unfortunately there is no web portal for scheduling, and the receptionist makes it impossible to schedule appointments, as best I can tell she does not believe in picking up the phone and it takes 2-3 days to receive a return phone call. Email scheduling is also not an option.
My husband and I had the worst experience here. He went in for ADHD testing, and at first was really in love with the overall vibe. Due to a variety of reasons though, including a complete lack of communication within the company and with us, he went several months untreated for his conditions because they could never return our calls. Not only that, they never forwarded his evaluation to places we needed. I understand there were extenuating circumstances in the employee's lives, and the pandemic didn't help, but not even returning our calls or communicating within their organization only proved to us that they don't care about the people they serve. There are ways of fixing this. They could make information easily available within their organization, they could return phone calls, if they had any of those measurements in place I wouldn't have scored them so low. Because of their lack of professionalism our family suffered for months. It took my calling every extension I had every single hour until someone finally sent us the document I needed. 15 phone calls in one day, after nearly 2 months of trying to work with them. I hate what they did to my family.
I was very disappointed with the way the receptionist handled my first time call. She was very rude when she answered the phone only shouting “partners?!” -like I was an inconvenience to her at that time. I found it unprofessional and I didn’t even get her name when she answered. I asked a few questions regarding getting in touch with intake who never returned my calls for several days . She wouldn’t let me finish a single question without interrupting. Considering this is a company that is meant to care and treat patients-this is not the way I feel clients should be treated off the bat. I was recommended by my therapist to call this location and I will telling her about my experience. I would not recommend this facility to any of my friends or family.
I like the staff a lot but the office itself is horrible. They often fail to communicate with their patients, many times do not pick up, and have left me without any answers or help over the phone. I have had way too many issues with scheduling and calling and I’m quite tired of it. Would switch but I do like my actual psychiatrist. Such a shame.
I have seen Dr. Epstein since I was 17 years old - I am now 28. He has taught me so many great and valuable coping skills to being a better, calmer, and happier person. He has also helped me traverse many difficult situations that needed tactful solutions. I am grateful to have been blessed with Dr. Epstein's wisdom and guidance for over 10 years. There is no better. His patience and compassion for others is truly unmatched.
Personally, I and my entire family have benefited greatly from this entire practice. I firmly believe that my husband would not still be here without Dr. Philip Epstein. Among my family members, who struggle with several mental disorders, we have seen 5 practioners in this practice. I see Marise Alexander-she's one of the partners of the practice. I'm sorry to see that someone was belittled because of her name. That's not usually like them. In general, this practice really cares about their patients, as opposed to a competing practice on Chagrin across from Yours Truly. The two practices used to be one, before there was a split because there were two groups within that practice who had different philosophies of patient care. For the other practice, on Chagrin, they are there to make $. Partners for Behavior Health and Wellness cares. IMHO.
They are AWFUL at answering the phones, returning voicemails and getting back to their patients. I leave numerous messages and always have to keep calling until they answer, or they won’t call back. I am officially out of a medication I take daily because they failed to call it in. When I called to explain that I’m without medication, of course no answer!! These are people’s medications we’re talking about...
