Read some old reviews. Just amazing how different people respond to Patsel's. Just had a wonderful family dinner last Saturday night. It could not have been more perfect. Hannah, our server left nothing undone. The food for everyone was outstanding...and my family are a picky lot. Some had duck, lamb, scallops, shrimp and all were perfectly cooked. Loved the blue cheese potatoe chips we all shared. Soups were outstanding and the lobster ravioli was delicious. For me, the magical decor is one I can appreciate over and over again. It is happy, joyful, unique, playful. The local artwork is beautiful and everywhere we look, we see something unusual and lovely. So, our night w/ family was perfect and we will go to Patsel's again and again.
We had a table for 11 person birthday dinner celebration last nite. The decor is a bit over-the-top, but it is definitely different, and has a nice flow with bright colors. The bar not sit down, just for making drinks for diners when you first walk in is beautiful with the lighting. Drinks are served at your table in very unusual "pretty" glasses, my sapphire martini on the rocks with olives was served in a tall colorful glass instead of the usual squat tumbler...threw me off a bit when I lost the skewerd olives to the bottom of the glass, but the more I drank trying to get to the olives, the more I started enjoying the glass difference. The potato chip app sounds hokey, but it works only if you like blue cheese. Our table never finished it, but most thought it tasty. The soups look to be seasonal... parsnip soup?? tastes a lot better than it sounds, this kitchen knows how to make soups. They offer a simple 3 soup tasting on the menu, if you are a soup person you could make a meal of that and a salad with their breads! Entrees, this kitchen serves up scallops perfectly cooked with fresh green beans that still have a bit of crunch...very nice. But their Duck breast cooked to order is a wonderful highlight. Cooked for medium rare as it should be, it is fantastic! I had to trade my table-mate my scallops to get a taste of that duck! Because we had so many people, we had 2 servers working with taking our orders and making sure everyone had what they needed while working with other tables, but they were so attentive we all thought they were just there for us. Yep, might be a bit pricey, and you will not be overwhelmed with quantity, but I felt we got the quality that I like when I go out.
A wonderful experience and it will be surely missed!
