The museum seeks to be a tool from which students and scholars may advance knowledge, cultivate aesthetic sensibility, and improve the material conditions of humankind. The museum seeks to achieve these goals through its commitment to collect, preserve, research, interpret, instruct, and present significant works of art and design from all periods of history.
