My kids really enjoyed learning about the history of Alabama ! The atmosphere at the museum and creativity of the director is second to none. The team over there was very kind and helpful !
Go! Awesome place with so much to see and learn.
Exceptionally nice people - except for the Englishman that worked there on my last and final visit. But he admitted he was born and raised Andalusia so I haven't figured that out. He said he taught college. He also expressed the opinion that if I made $1M a year I should be taxed $900k because I didn't need it and it would go to help others. He would not comment on his own donations. I did not appreciate communists being in charge of Coffee Country history so I have not returned, I have paid no more dues and truly wish I had my donations and map/document contributions back. I was so disgusted I have not even spoke about it for years. I have ancestors in other counties and have chosen to concentrate on their available information. The one star is for the Society's choice to allow him there as an authority.
Mrs. Diane and Mr. Doug are awesome! They have so much knowledge of the area and are willing to go the extra mile to help you with your genealogical studies in the Pea River region. On top of that, they ha e an awesome selection of gifts, from books on the area to their Alabama clay collection!
Wonderful staff, very helpful! Nice collection of Alabama themed gifts. And volumes by the Historical Society. I wanted to update this page to add the hours they are open but for some reason that's not an option. They are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. I visited on Saturday around 12:30
This place is awesome, the ladies are helpful and I went to a tomato canning class there that was extremely helpful.
