What I do….
I am a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW) qualified to provide counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups. I am an eclectic clinician, using multiple therapeutic approaches including mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, meditation, and visualization, to name a few. My specific goal is to help my clients overcome problems with depression, anxiety, obsessive/compulsive thoughts and behaviors, trauma-related issues, and life changes that may present difficulties. I am an advocate, life coach, and therapist.
What I believe about therapy….
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy that includes mind, body, and spirit. Talk therapy is helpful, but when it is combined with other practices such as meditation, mindfulness training, exercise, and healthy eating, it is powerful in the change process. My desire is to empower, encourage, and partner with my clients in their efforts to meet their goals.
What I don’t believe about therapy….
I don’t believe it is the therapist’s job to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. It is not my job to judge in any way. Instead, it is my job to support your efforts to do what you believe is right for you. And if you’re not sure what is right for you, we’ll find it together.
What I believe about you….
You can do this! I believe that all people possess strengths and skills. You already have what it takes to overcome the problems in your life and be successful. My job is to help you see these strengths and teach you to use them to your benefit. I also believe there is more to a person than a label or diagnosis. The medical world gives you a diagnosis that tells you what’s wrong with you. That’s ok. We need to know the problems so we can find solutions (Yes, there are solutions!). But, I want to go one step further and help you honor what is right with you, as well! You are not a list of deficits. You are a whole person with strengths, skills, dreams, hopes, and aspirations. Maybe you don’t know this about you, but I do and I want to help you find that part of you that is buried under the self-doubt and self-defeating beliefs.
