Although a regular customer of Performance Bicycle, a mechanic at the Vienna store refused to complete adjustments of gears and brakes. I recommend that people checkout other locations where I've received much better service. On 5/5/18 at approximately 3 pm, I visited this store and requested adjustments of gears and brakes. One of the mechanics who identify himself as the store manager said this operation could offer only new bike setup service. Without even inspecting the bike, he said the bike setup by the manufacturer was probably bad. Therefore, he could provide only the service suggested regardless of my request as the customer. This employee said that the practice above reflected the company's policy. I failed to see it posted in the store or on the website. It seemed that this employee wanted to extort me to accept only the service he suggested to reach some sort of quota. Less than two months earlier, I received similar services at a different location for a bike in the same condition. After being refused service at the Vienna store, I then went to a different location where I received the services requested without a problem. As a regular Performance Bicycle customer, I'm extremely dissatisfied with my experience at the Vienna, VA store. It would have seemed proper to inspect my bike and explain any additional services required.
Had a great experience with Performance bikes. No nonsense and courteous staff Josh gave a free check up of my bike and suggested small fixes based on my requirements. I appreciate that he did not try to snag money out of me by recommending expensive tune ups and fixes like some other stores in the area. He did make some great short term and long term recommendations without trying to sell me something from the store. Highly recommend this location. Quick , efficient and to the point.
Not the largest bike store in the world but I've liked the selection and pricing enough to have bought two bikes from this store. The staff are always very helpful and the mechanics also do a great job. I like that they have a nice selection of store brand type products and aren't overpricing the regular items.
I've been going to the Fairfax store for a few years now, and have had nothing but good experiences. Everyone I've dealt with has been helpful and friendly, and several times the staff has given me advice to do something on my own or a quick adjustment for free. I've bought about two bikes there, and they have never tried to up-sell me, but have helped me find a good option in my budget. They're the only bike store I can really say that about. I've bought enough junk bike gear on Amazon, so I usually turn to Performance because I know their cheap stuff isn't junk. Bottom line = I moved to DC and still go back to this Fairfax store because no other bike store has impressed me.
Zach is the man!! I'm a novice when it comes to biking, I wanted to get something nice but was a little intimidated by all my choices. Zach took the time to listen to what I wanted, answered all my questions and I had a lot and find the right fit for me. They didn't have the bike I decided on at the Tyson's store, but he found it for me at another Performance store and took care of everything so all I had to do was walk in and pick up my new bike the next night. Cannot recommend Performance Bicycle and Zach highly enough!
Great service experience. I made the mistake of taking my bike elsewhere. Not only did the other shop not fix the problem, they gave me an invoice of suggested service that was more than the bike is worth. The guys at Performance fixed what needed to be fixed and didn't try to upsell me stuff I don't need. I have always found the mechanics and salespeople at this store to be genuinely friendly and helpful. I won't stray again!
I just returned from a very unpleasant situation at the Performance Bicycles on Route 7 near Tyson's Corner. I was out on a ride and broke my saddle. I stopped and bought a new saddle for $129. The women at the front desk was very helpful and even recommended a different saddle that another customer had success with. When I asked how much it would cost to put on the saddle she stated she would wave the fee. I was obviously a cyclist in all my gear and had also stated I had just moved to the area and was looking for a new bike shop to buy from. So she tells me to go to the back and ask the mechanic to install the saddle. The mechanic right away states it will be $6 and that I need to go back up to the front and pay for it. I explain that the associate at the front had waved the fee. The mechanic said I was wrong and adamant I needed to pay the $6. At this point the associate from the front came back and he stated to her that I needed to pay the $6 and and he also started to complain that he wasn't suppose to work this late. At this point I told him to give me my bike back and explained I didn't feel comfortable being in between a dispute between two associates. Time to find another store to give my business to. What's funny is that the bike I was replacing the saddle on is a Cross Bike. That's not usually someones first road style bike. You'd think they might want to win my business.
After recently having my bike stolen, I wanted to purchase a new road bike. Rainy and David at Performance Bicycle helped me choose the right bike for my riding. I couldn't believe the changes in technology in just 4 years, but they made it easy to select the right bike with great components. They let me test ride a couple bikes which make it easier to choose and see how the bikes actually felt. I ended up buying a Ridley Fenix and have enjoyed every ride since my purchase. I was able to get few extras like pedals, computer, and bike rack using store credit given for my bike purchase. This was the best experience I could have hoped for to buy a new bike.
I had an amazing experience at the Vienna VA branch today. Went in to pick up my new Mountain Bike and was assisted by Rainy who answered all my questions, suggested great products she knew i'd need and answered all my questions. She even stayed after closing hours to help me attach my bike to my vehicle. great service, great people and great products.
Zack, Rainy and Josh are awesome! I was having issues with the pedals and the trunk rack. They were very helpful and informative. Would recommend this store to all my cycling friends
