Pet-Asylum is a family run pet store with two locations. You can visit us in Howell or Brick. Pet-Asylum Howell is a full line pet store with companion animals many pets offered are rescue looking for new homes. We specialize in premium food for your pets. Some of our well know lines include, Natura, Primal Raw, Natures Variety(raw, dry, can) Solid Gold, Merrick, Oxbow, LM Farms, and many others(if you are looking for something special call we might have it or be able to get it). The staff is well educated and will be willing to help you with either your product selection or the purchase of your new pet.

Went here looking for Rummynose Tetra. A lot of other places did not have these fish but Matt was more than happy to help me out. He placed an order and got them to me THE NEXT DAY!! Not only was the delivery prompt and super fast but these fish look phenomenal and are doing great. Super colorful and looking very healthy. Plan on doing plenty of business in the near future here.
Great store!!! Friendly & knowledgeable staff. I'm very happy with the fish, plants & supplies I purchased there. The fish are healthy & thriving: I definitely recommend this store!!!! Update: 3 months later ALL my fish& plants are alive and thriving: I've since been back many times. I purchased more fish & cherry shrimp,they are also doing well and growing fast! This is the 1st time I've ever kept live plants and cherry shrimp, but with the help and advice of the staff I've established beautiful aquariums! I recommend everybody check out this store!!! : Update: Still Love this store!
This place has rescue pets to purchase easily to bring into your loving home. Not many places do this. The staff, particularly, Michelle, was super helpful and friendly and made my ten year old son and me feel welcome. The staff are there to help but also have their work to do so they aren't in your space which gives you time to look and contimplate a great purchase now or in a few days...we were looking at the birds.
Great selection of fresh water fish. Better variety than the local big box pet stores. I always prefer to shop local small businesses before hitting the big box stores. The fish prices were certainly in line with the big pet stores. It's always better to deal with a knowledgeable business owner than an hourly worker at a chain store. I bought a fish that was a little too aggressive for my tank, and the owner Mike exchanged it 3 days later no questions asked, without a receipt. I've been there several times and never had a problem with the quality of the fish I purchased.
The owner/operator Mike is helpful and knowledgeable, just an all around great guy. My boyfriend has been going to this shop for years and as he started infecting me with the aquarist bug I started coming along. We have purchased many fish and shrimp here and all have been healthy in our tanks, and have also picked up supplies for our fish, cats, and dogs. The animals are all well kept and supplies well organized. If there's a fish you are interested in, Mike is willing to try to find custom orders or take requests. Also, not really related, but I played hide and seek with a cockatiel here last week, he was so sweet!
Great store,awesome staff that is very helpful and knowledgable.They actually do rescue and adoptions for many different types of animals in all their departments. The animals looked super healthy and happy. The quality of their animals is much better than any of the other stores in the area.Everything that I have purchased here has done much better than stuff I have purchased in the corporate box pet stores.You can tell Pet Asylum actually cares about their animals and customers,not just making a sale.Hands down the best place around and the only place I will shop at. Thanks again for the great work you guys do at Pet asylum.
I am a regular customer and I absolutely adore this place. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They always have a great selection of products and livestock, especially considering the size of the store. You can tell these guys really care about their work, especially with their fish, unlike a lot of the big chain stores which you can tell they're only in it for money.
I've been shopping at Pet Asylum for the entire 18 years we've lived here, and would never dream of going elsewhere. The staff is extremely professional, helpful, friendly and vastly knowledgeable. Just recently they helped turn the life of my senior American Bulldog around by recommending different food. No questions went unanswered! Simply WOW! The store is clean, and every single animal is exceptionally cared for. I having nothing but love for the store and the owners!
I went into the Howell location looking for a guinea pig only leave quite upset. Many of the animals seem neglected, guinea pigs with severely overgrown nails and crusted shut eyes, a green cheek conure in serious need of veterinarian attention with crusty nostrils and feathers in disarray, reptile tanks that were sadly overcrowded and undersized. Last time I visited this shop I purchased a guinea pig purely to get her out of the poor living conditions. She was clearly sick, her nails were curled under and embedded into her paw pads as well as she had a hard time walking. When I inquired about her condition I was treated as a problem, told she was fine, and that they would not let me see her closer unless I purchased her. Aside from this horrible animal treatment I received very poor customer service. The two employees did not seem to care that I obviously needed help and continued their obnoxious conversation at the register while I waited. In addition, the store was quite dirty and dimly lit. Overall I feel that action is required at the Howell location to help these animals. The management obviously does not care.
The place is okay but it's dated and unfortunately with Mom and Pop stores they have a higher margin to fill there for the prices are a lot more expensive a lot of cramping a lot of dust but the guy tried I was there to get a name tag for my cat my third one and it took a while and it was a little pricey and you didn't get much with it. Of course I was never a big fan of PetSmart but I just want
