I purchased a puppy from Pet Center in 12/20. I was told she was a teacup and she would be no more than 5 pounds! I paid $2195. She was 8 weeks old and 1. 6 lbs. For her. Well here we are 5 months later and although she is beautiful & precious…SHE IS NOT A TEACUP…she weighs 8 lbs plus. I feel I got ripped off and lied to. I would never had purchased her if I knew she wasn’t a teacup. Very dissatisfied customer. I needed to get a tiny dog because I have heart issues and can’t running after a normal pup…she is extremely wild.
Got my miniature yorkie here for around $2100. He is happy and healthy as of right now. The staff are amazing and super friendly!
Best and cheapest pet store I've found. Bought my Chihuahua there about 8 years ago. Wonderful experience. You can tell they have a passion for animals. Support a local business and shop here. Your wallet will thank you. Best place to buy a new pet. They are not mill puppies and are certified. They also have a nice selection of birds and reptiles!
My family and I love this pet store and the staff here. Everyone is friendly. We’ve purchased several of our pet rats here, and we always make sure to visit while we’re at Myrtle Beach. It’s become somewhat of a tradition for us, as we enjoy looking at the animals and specifically at Bobbie, the store’s pet bird.
The older gentleman who owns the store is very nice, he is hard of hearing so give him a minute he might not hear you when you come in, the majority of the staff is nice, but I will call out two employees one is the heavier balding gentleman and the shorter woman with the short often dyed hair, if they don't have to speak to you believe me they won't, I'm not sure why they work there because it is obvious they would rather not be working or talking to you. They are usually well stocked in what you need and it's very convenient.
I bought two rats from here a little over a year ago and they are still very healthy up and to this day ! The store is clean and the animals seem well taken care of, well, as much as any pet store can for so many animals haha ! I am actually planning on getting three more rat babies to add to my current two from this store tomorrow ! The staff seems kind enough, I am a shy person and when I was originally looking at my two rats they had approached me and were very kind . The rats from the store seem to have varying temperaments, although they are friendly animals over all . They were shy at first but my fawn colored one is very friendly and doesn't mind being held ! My hooded one prefers not to be touched, but occasionally lets people pet him . My two rats are pretty healthy . The hooded one does suffer from occasional wheezy-ness and might suffer from asthma .The fawn one however is 100% in the clear . I have not seen tumors or cancer in my two rats, nor any of the other rats in the store . The rats seem well enough bred and I recommend buying a pair from this store if you cannot adopt or find a breeder in your area ! My only complaint is that they don't sell oxbow rat food or mazuri, which are the two best foods you could feed a rat . Petsmart sells oxbow though so I buy my food there instead !
I've read a lot of the reviews yes the older Lady isn't really friendly the older Gentleman seemed nice. Personally I didn't go to make friends. I went to get some mice for my snake and will be going back when I need more and anything else I need for her. Also it looked like they had a large selection of fish and when I set the aquarium again I will be back to purchase some from them. If they have what I need I'm good with that. How many people shop at Walmart for the nice friendly staff cause there isn't many of them but you keep going back to get what you need. UPDATE: Went again on 1-05-22 to get a small rat they were out and the older Gentleman let me know they had some coming in the next day and what time and helped me find something else I needed he was just as nice this time too. I also meet another Lady that works there when I was taking a little more time to look at the fish. She was very friendly and helpful seemed like she really like what she was doing.
I love this place-my first choice for my animals needs. First off the store is organized and laid out so well. The staff is great and they really do care about every animal in their care. Bobby the cockatoo stole my heart, I’ve never handled a bird in my life but she just stepped her little foot toward me and crawled onto my shoulder. Someone mentioned she bit-she gave me a little love nibble it was cute, never in my life did I see myself wanting to love on a bird so much as I’m a dog person but wow did Bobby change my mind about birds. Last but not least, and I really hope the staff sees this-thank you so so much for sticking up for your employees. I read a bunch of reviews about employees having bad attitudes-these employees do not have bad attitudes just because they don’t allow the public to mis treat them. This is unheard of now a days. A workplace that defends its employees is a unicorn these days and I greatly appreciate that you treat your staff with respect and demand the same from customers. I will definitely be shopping here in the future. Keep up the great work!
We purchased a "Pomerian" puppy here on October 23, 2021. The lady attending to the puppies was helpful and took good care of them. Our puppy was not able to leave the store until she was 8 weeks old, so we were not able to take her that day. They did allow us to come back and see her as much as we wanted so she would get to know us. That was really nice and made bringing her home a lot easier on her. Overall, our experience with the purchase and staff was a good one. However, now that our puppy is growing, she definitely is not a full Pomerian. She is a mixed breed of what I am not sure. ​I feel like we were charged too much for a mixed breed, but the contract you sign says they have no control over that. The puppy didn't come with registered papers, so it was a chance we took our bad. She is a beautiful, smart, healthy dog, and we love her. I just feel in this case, the breeder is being deceitful in what type of dogs they are breeding and the store should not deal with that particular breeder going forward.
I wish I could give this place zero stars. The man that was working there threatened my friend for “stealing” when all he was doing was looking at the reptile leashes for his lizard. The man then told him to get out and never come back. so, we left. Then the man came back and yelled for him to come back inside. He then lifted up his shirt all the way and was kicked out again. A very uncomfortable experience and will not be coming back
